Thomas Threatens Suit
Galveston, Tex.. Aug., 10.—H.
Bascom Thomas, of Sulphur
Springs, realizing that the lieu-
tenant governorship is slipping
from him as a result of the pri-
maries of July 23 will take his
contest against A. B. Davidson
into the courts, according to a
direct report from him today.
Thomas hopes it is said to cause
consternation in the ranks of his
opponents by his contemplated
action. Yesterday Thomas said
he would go before the new ex-
ecutive committee five days after
its formation.

Mrs. Curt Allison Dead.
The sad news readied Clifton
by wire last Friday afternoon of
the sudden death at 1:30 of Mrs.
Curt Allison, nee Beulah Wal-
lace. at her home in Sonora.
Deceased was a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Wallace of
near Norse and had spent most
of her life in this section.
Two small children, one about
two years old and the other about
fifteen days, are left motherless.
The body was interred at So-
nora.
Tiie Record joins the many
friends of the griefstricken rel-
atives, and especially the aged
father and mother, in extending
deepest sympathy and condo-
lence.

We desire to thank the good
citizens of Clifton who so kindly
helped us with their liberal gifts
last week, both through our
friend, A. Peterson, and the
Lutheran Ladies Aid Society.
We are old and feeble and things
look rather dark at times, but it
is a blessing to us to know that
we live among such people—peo-
ple who do /lot forget us. May
God bless you all.

A House Party
On last Tuesday evening Miss
Olcna Poulson invited Misses
May Schow, Reba Little, Maggie
Lee Peterson and Lena Snell to
a “House Party” at her home in
honor of her cousin, Miss Anna
Dune of Waco.
About 8:30 other guests be-
gan to gather. The evening was
pleasantly spent in playing “Bun-
co” and “Hearts.” - Punch was
served during the game and later
ice and cake were served.
Miss Maggie Lee Peterson
was awarded the head prize for
winning the greatest number
of games and Miss Ruth Lewis
won the “booby” prize.
About 11:30 the guests began
jto return to their respective
homes after spending a most de-
lightful evening.
The girls who are attending
the “House Party” will remain
until Friday evening.
