Funeral services wife re held
Monday, April 30 at 2it)0 p. m.
in the Harrell Memorial Chapel
for Mrs. Floy Editly Haynes who
died April 28 in tt* Dublin Hos-
pital at the age of 68. Sendees
were officiated by E. H. Benning-
field and music was by the Dub-
lin Quartette. Burial was in the
Energy Cemetery.
Mrs. Haynes was a resident of
Route 1, Gustine for the past
twenty one years. She was bom
January 3, 1905 hi Santa Anna to
George Williams and Phoebe
Fowler Williams. She married H.
R. Haynes on December 10, 1940
and was a member of t he Bap-
tist Church. They had one dau-
ghter.
CLAIRETTE COMMUNITY

Clairette Post Office was dos-
ed April 27. People of our com-
munity regret losing the long
time Post Office 25 signatures on
a petition opposing it, was mail-
ed to Washington, D. C. However
for some reason or other it did
no good.
The Annual Cemetery Working
is Saturday, May 5. Everyone
interested come bring a basket
dinner and stay over for Saturday
night Home Coming.
W. 0. Baldwin of Stephenville
was laid to rest in Clairette Ce-
metery Saturday afternoon. His
funeral services were held at 2
p. m. in Stephenville. Mr. Bald-
win lived here several years ago,
Surviving relatives include her a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
husband H. R. Haynes of Gus-
tine; one daughter Mrs. Gary
Croft of Grand Prairie; one
grandson, Bryan Croft of Grand
Prairie; a step-son Raymond
Haynes of Wichita Falls; two
sisters Mrs. Bessie Goodgion of
Brady and Mrs. Georgia Cozart
of San Angelo; two brothers,
Ronald E. Williams of Grand
Frairie and Emil D. Williams of
Keys, Okla. I

John Baldwin, he is survived by
one daughter Mrs. Nona Mc-
Crutchion of Stephenville, one
brother, Wes Baldwin of Savory,
two grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
Wes Baldwin of Saboy visited
old friends here Saturday morn-
ing, He came to attend his bro-
ther's funeral.
Mrs. Peggy Ownby was ho*
tess to the Busy Bee Club Thitna
day afternoon. 10 members and
three visitors were present. The
visitors were Mrs. Ruth Salmon,
of Hire; Mrs. Frances Turney of

Meeting wus called to ctf* to
president Dr Clay Salyer. Sing-
ing was led by Bill Hardin with
Mrs. Earl Moore accompanying.
Seth Turner led in the Fledge of
Allegiance to the Flag and thle
invocation was given by Ralph
Sterling. A buffet luncheon fol-
lowed and then guests were in-
troduced by secretary Dr. Charles
Crabtree Visiting Rotanans were
Ralph Starling and Hugh An-
toine from Stephenville and Joe
Dorsey was a
Granberry.
Program chairman for the day
was T. C. Granberry and he
presented Bennie P. Galloway,
Associate Professor of History at
Abilene Christian College. Gal-
loway, a native of Dublin, brou-
ght a very interesting talk on
Texas and Dublin during the Civil
War. Those were truly the days
of the wild west and hangings of
horse and cattle thieves was a
common ocr .irrcnce in the Dub-
lin area and especially in the
Hazeldell Community. Many peo-
ple from other localities liked
the appearance of the Dublin
territoiy and settled here after
looking the situation over. How-
J ever one group arrived late with

her recent trip to New Mexico
and Utah. Mrs. Owenby enter-
tained with several games of
bingo, followed by refreshments
served on motif Easter plates
with plate favors and napkins,
Prizes went to Lucile Mayfield,
Eunice Lee and guest Frances
Turney.
The recent rains have left our
roads washed and rough to get
over. We hope our Commissioner
will soon get them repaired.
A large crovy-1 attended the
Horse Sale at "Red’s Bam” on
Highway 281 near Clairette Fri-
day night.
Mrs. Don Smith of Stephen-
ville honored her mother Mrs.
Hub Alexander with a birthday
dinner Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Wolfe and
family of Fort Worth spent the
weekend with the J. R. Wolfes.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry McGuire of
Houston spent the weekend with
Mr. and Mfs. Jake McGuire.
The Head family repnion was
they decided then this would be
the spot for them to settle in. On
arriving the next morning they
spotted three bodies hanging from
a tremendous tree not too far
from their camp. After a very
brief discussion they decided this
was not for them so they left and
have not been heard from since.
Dublinites Attend
Several Dublinites attended the
funeral of Donald Swanner in
Comanche Wednesday, April 25.
Tney were his auntF, Mrs. Bulah
McClain, Bobby McClain, Dolly
Hutchison, Mary J. Cuthey and a
cousin Oleta Carlin
Mr. Swanner was the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gery Swenner of
Gorman, formerly of Dublin and
Comyn.
