Burial was in Restlawn Memorial
Park. Pallbearers were Delbert J.

Petty, Gerald Prim, James A.
Griffin, Billy Jones and Roy Petross.
Mr. Williams died Monday in
Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
He was 94.
He was born Nov. 18, 1891, in
Celeste, the son of James Byron and
Clara B. Oliver Williams,v
He married Lorena Lee Hobbs
April 7, 1919, in New Orleans. She
preceded him in death in 1969. He
was also preceded in death by a son,
James E. Williams, Sept. 4, 1981,
and several sisters.
Mr Williams was a retired McKeever of DallaSi formerly of

from the U.S. Navy. He served in the
U.S. Navy in World War 1 and World
War II arid Was h Captain of a
minesweeper during WWII.
During his military service, Mr.
Williams received several
decorations including a letter of
commendation from the Secretary
of Navy for the rescue of passengers
from a grounded passenger ship, the
USS Paddleford. during WWII.
Mr. Williams was a former
manager of both the Jefferson and
Hopkins County chambers of
commerce and was an active player
and manager in the Sulphur Springs
City Baseball league for many
years. He was also a member of the
Hopkins County Agricultural Ad-
justment Administration.
Survivors include five sons, Byron
Williams Jr of St Ieuis, Mo., Hobbs
Williams of Grand Prairie, Stanley
Williams of Oakland, Calif. Kenneth
Williams of Slidell, la . and Joseph
Williams of Austin; a brother, Alton
Williams of Garland; 16 grand-

great-grandchildren
She was the sister-in-law of
Russell and Ed Craft, both of

He was born Aug 11, 1904, in
Franklin County, the son of Ice
Canaday and Molly Kennemore
Canaday. He married Ludie Mc-
Daniel March 17,1928, in Yantis. She
survives.
He was a-member of the Baptist
Church and Woodmen of the World.
He was a workman for the City of
Dallas.
Other survivors include two
daughters, Mavis Kennimer of
Quitman and Rosie Kennimer of
innsboro; two sons, Roype
Canaday of .Yantis and J.E.
Canaday of Dallas; 13 grand-
children; 21 great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Trudie Wooten of
Dallas.

Mr. McKeever died Monday in a
Dallas hospital. He was 81.
