50th anniversary
Huttie Moore and Nettie Wright were united in marriage in
Cooper Nov. 7, 1936. On Nov. 9, their daughters, Peggy
Rodgers and Janie Driver, will honor their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Moore, with a reception in celebration of their 50th
wedding anniversary jn their home at 2338 Highwood Drive
in Dallas. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.
Golden anniversary
Allen and Ruby Cates of Route 2, Sulphur Springs, will be
honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception
hosted by their children and grandchildren. The reception
will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Sulphur
Springs State Bank community room. Friends and relatives
are invited to attend.

Following the ceremony, a
reception was held in the garden
room of Mrs. Harrington’s home.

Acapulco, Mexico, the couple will
make their home in Sulphur Springs
where the bride is employed with the
Sulphur Springs Independent School
District and the bridegroom is em-
ployed with Denton Constuction
Company.
Virginia Murray Brown of Sulphur
Springs and Jeff Davis of Hugo,
Okla., were united in marriage Aug. 9
in the garden of Mrs. Vera
Harrington in Yantis.
Dr. Charles Redmond officiated at
the garden ceremony.
Gina Lee Brown, daughter of the
bride, attended as the maid of honor.
James Davis, father of the
bridegroom, served as the best man.
Tim Brown, son of the bride, escorted
and presented the bride.

The first Grubbs School Reunion
was held Sept. 28, on the Grubbs
Community School grounds, located
approximately 10 miles south on
Highway 154, 1‘z miles west.
The land for the school and church
ground was given by J.W.M. Grubbs
in 1894. The school consolidated with
Yantis in the early I94fl’s.
Some 144 people registered during
the old-fashioned stew including two
former teachers, Wiley Dunham and
Fay Britt Putman. Mrs. Britt was
Kenneth Grubbs’ first grade teacher.
He is now a great-grandfather.
Ruth Nichols Hinton was
recognized as the oldest person in
attendance who was connected with
the school, while Shirley Grubbs Orr
was named the youngest. Each
received a gift.
Those attending enjoyed picture
taking, exchanging memories and
looking back at old pictures.
Two pots of stew were cooked by
Ben Sells; Johnny Chester and
Kenneth Grubbs.
A fund was started to build a
covered shed for next year.
Ruth Nichols Hinton, 93, was the
oldest guest attending and Cheyenne
Chester, 4, the daughter of Johnny
and Phyllis Chester, was the
youngest.

Michelle and Lynnette Loyd, Fay
Wilson, Wayne Jlinton, Fay Britt

Sue Graham of Paris and Jerry Graham of Boise, Idaho,
announce the engagement and approaching marriage of
their daughter, Stacy Collean Graham, to Bradley Ken
Eatherly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eatherly of Paris. The
couple plan to be married in a formal ceremony Saturday,
Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Paris. Stacy
is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Jumper and Mr.
and Mrs. Billy Carpenter of Como. The bride-elect is a 1984
graduate of Delmar High School and is employed at the
YWCA. The prospective bridegroom is a 1979 graduate of
Paris High School and is manager of Paris Hi-Fi.
Engagement announced
Mrs. Clarice Carlson of Sulphur Springs announces the
engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter,
Billie Jo Carlson, to William (Bubba) Jay Edwards, the son
of Mrs. Linabeth Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Edwards,
all of Sulphur Springs. The couple plan to be married at 3
p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the Gafford Chapel Methodist
Church. Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to
attend.
