Dublin bounces back in sales tax
Texas Comptroller Susan
Combs announced that state
sales tax revenue in
September was $2.01 billion,
up 2.7 percent compared to
September 2012.
“State sales tax revenue
collections continued to
grow at a moderate pace,”
Combs said. “Growth was
led by collections from the

Dublin bounced back last
month, collecting nearly 2096
more than in September
2012. This followed poor
sales tax collections in
August which were over 19%
less than the same point in
2012.
Another local winner was
Comanche whose 10.88%
rise in sales tax contributed
to Comanche County
experiencing gains of 10.56%
over last year.
Combs will send cities,
counties, transit systems
and special purpose taxing
districts their October local

$579.8 million, up 5.2
percent compared to
October 2012.

JUST JOINED- Former Erath County Sheriffs Office deputy Tish Lecroy recently joined the
Dublin PD with her first day being Oct. 1.
Erath deputy joins Dublin PD
By PAUL GAUDETTE
Staff Writer
Dublin Police Department
has a new officer this
month after Tish Lecroy,
43, decided that coming to
Dublin was the right change
for her life.
She is hardly a stranger
to the area though as she
has lived in Erath County
for the past 16 years and
worked as an officer of the
Erath County Sheriff’s
Office for 15. Her children
even attended Dublin
Elementary School.
Lecroy said she was
looking for a change and
wanted to join the
department after talking
with Dublin PD Chief Shawn
Fullagar.
“He’s actually a true
believer," she exclaimed,
motioning to Fullagar’s
office. Lecroy explained
that ‘believers’ like Shawn
and herself don’t take a
reactive approach of the
law but always want to
work to make the
community better for its
citizens.
“This [department] is a
family and we look out for
each other,” she said. “But
that’s our family outside
too and we have to take
care of them.”
Lecroy will be working
night shifts for the Dublin
PD, but she is used to it
after working nights for
Erath County for years. She
said she prefers working
nights because people are
less hesitant to call when
they see or hear something
suspicious at night.
Lecroy has dealt with all
sorts of problems in her
tenure as an officer from
burglaries to helping secure
a wide variety of animals
including horses, cows
camels, zebras and
buffalo.
Although she graduated
from Tarleton State
University with a Bachelor’s
of Arts degree in History,
Lecroy has always been
interested in serving the
law.
She advised that when
she was in 4th grade, she
and her friend were the
resident detectives at her
school. A radio went
missing and through their
determination, they were
able to recover it, making
them eligible for the $20
reward her teacher had
posted.
“We spent it all on peanut
busters at Dairy Queen,”
she remembered with a
laugh.
Lecroy started her career
in Pottsboro, a small town
of about 1100, before
moving to work in Sherman,
TX, a city with a population
of around 30,000.
She felt that was too large
though and is happy after
her years with ECSO to
return to a small town
atmosphere which she
finds more relaxed and
friendlier.
On her first day, she
reported that her job
seemed much different
than as a sheriff’s deputy.
Not only was she working
in the daytime for her first
shift but her area to cover
had decreased from 1100-
plus square miles to around
five miles. The job quickly
felt familiar though.
“One of my first calls was
about horses that were
out,” Lecroy said. “My boots
were covered in manure
and 1 thought, 'Okay, I
know this.”
