Smith, 41, of Route 6, Greenville,
formerly of Sulphur Springs, were
held Wednesday in the Tapp Funeral
Home chapel with the Rev. James
Rogers officiating. Burial was in the
Shirley Cemetery with military
rites.

Mr. Smith died Sunday in Wysong
Hospital in McKinney from injuries
sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was bom Oct. 10, 1944, in
Sulphur Springs, the son of Elmer J.
and Nina Pickett Smith.
He was a Vietnam veteran and
retired in 1982 from the U.S. Navy
after 20 years of service. He was
employed as a finisher for Champion
Mobile Homes in Commerce.
Survivors include his mother,
Nina Smith of Greenville; two
daughters, Angelina Dawn Smith of
Fort Worth and Mylinda Diane
Smith of Lancaster; two sons, An-

Thomas, 80, of Wichita Falls, for-
merly of Sulphur Springs, were held
Monday, April 28, at the First United
Methodist Church of Wichita Falls
with tlie Rev. DeForrest Wiksten
and the Rev. John Payne officiating.
Entombment was in Crestview
mausoleum under the direction of
the Hampton-Vaughn Funeral
Home.
Mr Thomas died Friday, April 25,
He was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Wichita
Falls and served on the church
board. He also served on the SMU
Board of Development.
He was a member of the Salvation
Army Advisory Board, the Kiwanis
Club, the Maskat Temple, the
Joseph A. Kemp Masonic Lodge, the
Red River Orchid Society and the
Fort Worth Camellia Society. He
was a former member of the Wichita
County Historical Commission and
the Civil War Roundtable.
Other survivors include a sister,
Mrs. Weldon (Virginia) Taylor of
Commerce; and two brothers,
Robert E. Thomas of Dallas and
Earl F. Thomas of Houston.
Memorials may be made to the
First United Methodist Church in

McIntosh, 72, of Route 3, were held
Tuesday in the Wesley United
Methodist Church with the Rev.
Jerry Putnam and the Rev. Ken
Hildebrand officiating. Burial was in
the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, north
of Sulphur Springs.
Pallbearers were Gene George,
Spencer Hinkle, Dr. G.W. Gray, Bill

Phillips.

the son of Arthur Lee McIntosh and

married Gladys Palmer Nov 4,1939,
in Patricia. She survives of Sulphur
Springs.
He was a rancher and a member
of the Wesley United Methodist
Church.
He had resided in Hopkins County
since 1970.
Survivors include two daughters,
Judy Ritchie of Lubbock and Gracie
Weston of Sulphur Springs; five
sisters, Estelle Hooten of Sulphur
Springs, Annie Mae Crawford of
Clyde, Kate Allen of Sweeney, Bell

Ann Moore, 103, in Paris, formerly
of Hopkins County, were held
Monday in the Tapp Funeral Home
chapel with the Rev. Morris Hill
officiating. Burial was in the
Rosemond Cemetery' near Com-
merce.

Aster McKeever,' Frank Odom and
Bill Lockhart.
Mrs. Moore died Saturday in Saint
Joseph Hospital in Paris.
She was born Dec. 4, 1882, in
Batesville, Ark., the daughter of
Calvin H. and Sarah Virginia Nesbitt
Haddock. She married Marcus M.
Moore in 1903 in the Oakland
Community. He preceded her in
death in 1921.
She was a nrember of the Cumby
United Methodist Church. '
Survivors include a son, Morris N.
(Peanut) Moore of Sulphur Springs;
a daughter, Kathleen Jones of
Paris; a sister, Katherine Prim of
Hurst; five grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death
by a daughter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ophelia
Clayton Pitts, 74, of 626 Putman St.,
were held Tuesday in Saint Luke
Baptist Church with the Rev.
Cleveland Alexander officiating.
Burial was in the Saint Luke
Cemetery.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Pitts died Saturday in
Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
She was bom Jan. 10, 1912, in
Hopkins County, the daughter of
Sidlney and Fannie Clayton She
married Ivory (Buck) Pitts in 1943.
He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a member of the Saint
Luke Baptist Church.
Survivors include six brothers,
Jack Clayton of Commerce, Berma
Clayton, the Rev. Elgie Clayton,
Frank Clayton, Dexter Clayton and
Junior Clayton, ^all of Sulphur
Springs; three sisters, Zelmarie
Wright and Thelma Moore, both of
Sulphur Springs, and Eunice
Stewart of Tyler.
She was preceded in death by a
sister, Flora Peoples, and a brother,
Henry Clayton.

He was born Feb. 22, 1905, in
Como, the son of George Melvin
Harris and Lillie Victoria Harris. He
married Lola Fay Cannon in 1928 in
Quitman. She survives.
Mr. Harris was a retired farmer
and a member of the Posey Baptist
Church.

Mr. Darlin died Friday in Hopkins
Countv Memorial Hospital. He was
87.
He was born Nov. 11,1898, in Wood
County, the son of Deward William
and Maggie Bevills Darlin.
He married Wilier McAlister in
1923 in Hopkins County. She
preceded him in death. He later
married Etta Clapp May 9, 1955, in
Sulphur Springs. She survives.
Mr. Darlin was a Baptist minister
and a member of the Payne Springs
Baptist Church in Mabank.
He was also a veteran of Worjd
War I.
Survivors include his wife, Etta
Darlin of Mabank; two sons, A.B.
(Red) Darlin and Trozy R. Darlin,
both of Sulphur Springs; one
daughter, Della Mae Haney of
Sulphur Springs; one stepson,
Tommy Price of Roanoake; two
stepdaughters, Mildred Eaton of
Irving and Lula Mae King of Dallas;
a brother, Walter Darlin of Snyder;
13 grandchildren; and 18 great-
grandchildren.
Mr. Darlin was also preceded in
death by two sons and a daughter.

Mrs. Famey Pearl Wallace, 89, of
1200 N. Jackson St., were held
Friday at the Brinker Cemetery.
Mrs. Wallace died Wednesday at
Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
She had lived in Sulphur Springs
since 1960, moving here from Dallas.
She was bom March 4, 1897 in
Austin, the daughter of Mr and Mrs.
Sledge Winfree.
She was a housewife and a
member of the United Methodist
Church.
She married Ixmme Wallace in
1960 in Dallas. He preceded her in
death in 1974
She is survived by a daughter,
Lucy Johnson of Sulphur Springs;
two stepdaughters, Dorothy Mat-
thews of Dallas, and Patsy Weber of
Quitman; one stepson, Joe Wallace
of Sulphur Springs; eight step-
grandchildren; and 11 step-great-
grandchildren.

Mrs. Amis died Wednesday at her
residence.
She was born August 18, 1902, in
Tira to J.A. and Dona Campbell
Smiddy.
She married George O. Taylor
Aug. 1, 1923, who preceded her in
death June 2,1972. She married Sam
Amis in 1975, who died July 3,1982.
She was a retired teacher with the
North Hopkins, Tira and Nelta
schools. She held a master’s degree
from East Texas State University.
She was a member of the First
Baptist Church, the Diamond Set
and the Retired Teachers
Association.
She is survived by one son, Bill
Taylor of Dallas; one brother, J.J.
Smiddy of Tira; one sister, Beulah
Wester of Tira; six grandchildren;
and four great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by
a daughter, Neil Jack, two brothers
and one sister.

He married Elizabeth Milligan

preceded him in death Dec. 4,1967.
He was a retired employee of the
City of Sulphur Springs and a
member of the League Street
Church of Christ.
He is survived by two sons, J.P.
Fletcher and Lewis Fletcher both of
Dallas; two sisters, Martha Kiker of
Nelta and Oda Jones of Dallas; nine
grandchildren; 15 great-
grandchildren; and two great-great-
grandchildren.

National Reining Horse Association
Derby May 14-17 at the Minnesota
