Miss Teresa Kay Shafer of
Dublin, Texas and Mr. John
Anthony Ripley of Gorman,
Texas were united in marriage
June 4th at 7:30 in the evening
in the First Baptist Church of
Dublin. The double ring cere-
j mony was officiated by Minister
David Curey.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Weldon Shafer of
Dublin and Mr. and Mrs. J.S.
Ripley of Gorman.
The church was beautifully
decorated with a large greenery
arch and pink candelabras.
Large bows of rose and soft pink
accented the inside aisles, as
they marked the bridal path.
The bride had seven attend-
ants- Doris Taylor, the bride’s
sister was Matron of Honor;
, Bridesmaids were Rhonda
Wadsworth of Ft. Worth, Nelda
Couch, Karen Whitehead, Terri
Zimmerman, Donna Mitchell all
of Dublin, and Sammie Pettit of
Gorman.
Presented in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a formal
gown of sheer organza and
chantilly lace. The bodice
featured a mandarin neckline
over-blouse of imported chantil-
ly lace cascaded to the hemline,
aproned front in matching chan-
tilly band across center front
| fitted yet bouffant silhouette. A
chapel train completed the
gown. A pearled, lace Juliet cap
held the tiered veil of illusion.
She carried a bouquet of white
roses.
With tradition the bride wore
a string of pearls of Mrs. Ed
Snead for something old. For
something new she wore dia-
mond ear studs given by the
groom. For something borrowed
she wore her mother’s diamond
dinner ring and for something
blue she wore a blue garter.
The bridesmaids gowns were
pastel pink with floral organza
sleeves in a traditional fashion.
They wore pink picture hats and
each one carried a long stem red
rose.
Flower girls were Laurie
Shafer, of Alice, niece of the
Bride, and Tesha Shafer of
Dublin. Their dresses were pink
floor length, with floral organza
pinafore. They also wore pink
picture hats and carried pink
lacy umbrella flower baskets.
The bridegroom's Best Man
was Gary Mauney of Gorman,
groomsmen were Carl Burleson,
Ricky Fuller, Raitty Claitor,
Tommy Herod, Rodney Warren,
and Charles Strube, cousins of
the bride. Ushers were Tommy
Spencer. Terry McKillip, Stan
Shafer, cousin of the bride, and
Billy Hamilton. The candle
lighters were Jeff Ripley,
brother of the groom and Scotty
Mauney of Gorman. Ring
Bearer’s were James Taylor and
Randy Shafer of Alice, nephews
of the bride.
David Gilbreath, organist,
played traditional wedding mu-
sic. Patti Hirst, pianist, accom-
panied Mike Shafer, soloist, on
“Twelfth of Never.” Adrianne
Stephen, pianist, accompanied
Mike Shafer, soloist and flutist
on “Colour My World.” Patti
Hirst, pianist, accompanied Lisa
Curey, soloist, on “Wedding
Prayer.” Doris Taylor read the
poem "Spectrum of Love.”
Special guests attending the
wedding were Mr. and Mrs.
Dwaine Brown and Marla from
Gorman, Peggy Lewis and son
Mark of Pleaston, Tanya Box of
Stephenville, Melba Childress
of Dallas, Vi Hippie and
daughters Susan and Pam of
Arlington, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Hughes and daughter Leann of
Mansfield, Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Evans of Larue, Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Wadsworth and daughter
Diane of Ft. Worth, and Mr. and
Mrs. Orval Morgan of Stephen-
ville.
At the guest book were Diania
Peacock and Debbie Ray, both
of Stephenville, cousins of the
bride, dressed alike in floor

After the ceremony the couple
were honored ifi a reception in
colors of rose and soft pink in
the fellowship hall of the First
Baptist Church. The bride’s
cake was a five tiered cake,
decorated with pink roses. The
table was accented with an
arrangment of roses. Also
served was punch, nuts and
mints. The groom’s cake was
shaped in a horseshoe and made
of chocolate, served with coffee.
Servers were Karen Shafer of
Pasadena, Kathy Gaines of
Morgan Mill, Adrianne Steph-
en, Luanne Leatherwood, Sherri
Daniels all of Dublin, and Kathy
Hamilton of DeLeon, sister of
the groom. Pink rice bags and
satin roses were handed out by
Debbie Ray and Tammy Green-
way, cousins of the bride.
Diania Peacock registered the
guests.
The bride’s going away attire
was a mint green pantsuit with
white acessories and a pink rose
corsage. After a wedding trip to
San Marcos, the couple will
reside in Dublin.
The groom is a 1976 graduate
of Gorman High School, and will
attend Tarleton State Univer-
sity. The bride will attend
Dublin High School.
A rehearsal dinner, given
by the groom’s parents, was
held Thursday, June 3, at Jake
and Dorothy’s. At this time the
attendants were recognized with
gifts.
Bridal Showers
Miss Teresa Kay Shafer, who
is the bride-elect of Mr. J.A.
Ripley was honored May 1,
1976, with a miscellaneous
bridal shower at Perry Hall in
Dublin. Hostesses for the
courtesy were Mrs. Wayne
Zimmerman, Mrs. Hardy Haz-
zard, Mrs. Donald Peacock,
Mrs. Billy Jack Ray, Mrs. Jerry
Pair, Mrs. Weldon Whitehead,
Mrs. Mike Shafer, Mr;s. V.S.
Watson, Mrs. Bob Salyer, Mrs.
Borden Reeder, Mrs. Merrill
Stephen, Mrs. Delbert Shafer,
Mrs.' Earl Prater, Mrs. Ed
Leatherwood, Mrs. Don Mitch-
ell.
Miss Myra Thompson was at
the guest book. Quinna Pair,
Rayanne King and Vickie
Reeder served refreshments of
cake, punch and nuts. The.
refreshment table was covered
with a lace cloth over pink,
accented with an arrangement
of roses. Robin Hodges, Pianist,
played several songs for the
entertainment. Many useful
gifts were received.

served cake, nuts, and punch as
refreshments. The table was

pink. Accenting the table was an
arrangement of rose and soft
pink roses. Many useful gifts

Prenuptial Party
The bridesmaids honored the
bride, Teresa Kay Shafer,
bride-elect of J.A. Ripley, with a
prenuptial party May 29. They
presented her with a recipe box.
Each girl contributed her
* favorite recipes. Refreshments
of punch, cake and nuts were
served. Bridesmaids attending
were Terri Zimmerman, Karen
Whitehead, Nelda Couch, and
Donna Mitchell.

lace cloth over pink. A spring
flower arrangement was the
centerpiece. An individual long
stem rose was placed at each
'setting. Crystal and silver
appointments were used.

Beard Growing
Contest Set
The Dublin Bicentennial
committee is sponsoring a
Beard Growing Contest as part
of the Bicentennial Celebration
set for July 4. The contest
started May 4 with registeration
with Everett Hightower, at
Dublin Insurance Agency. At
this time, entrants were clean
shaven. Judging will take place
on July 4. Three cash prizes will
be awarded. Information on
types of beards will be
announced at a later date.
The days between May 4 and
July 4 will be designated and
anyone not having a beard will
be fined.
