married Elliotte R. Chamberlain
May 25, 1919, in Sulphur Springs. He
preceded her in death Jan. 7,1941.
Mrs. Chamberlain moved from
Sulphur Springs to Clifton in 1973. She
was a homemaker and a member of
the Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters,
Dorothy Rainey and Betty Cham-
berlain, both of Clifton; a son. Bill A.
Chamberlain of Houston; four
grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.

Monday in the Pennington Funeral
Home chapel, San Marcos. Burial
was in the San Marcos City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Posey died Saturday in Hays
Memorial Hospital in San Marcos.
She was bom May 6,1907, in Nelta,
the daughter of George Ivan Vaughn
and Katie Josephine Cajr Vaughn.
She married Gene Posey, who
preceded her in death.
She was a professional artist and a
member of the Church of Christ in
San Marcos.
Survivors include two daughters,
Kay Mullican of San Marcos and
Patsy Posey Arndt of Houston: three
Brad and Artie Coke Davidson. He
married Vera Moorehead in 1921 in
Shirlev. She preceded him in death in
1973. ’
He was a retired service station
owner and operator in Sulphur
Springs for many years.
He was a member of the Baptist
Church.
Survivors include a brother,
Clarence Davidson of Van; and five
sisters, Lois Keith of Como, Annie
Rhodes of Shirley, Katie Millsap of
Sulphur Springs. Mag Reeves of
Chandler, and Sally Cannon of
Dallas.

Baptist Church.

in Restlawn Memorial Park

at his residence.
He was born July 13, 1900, in
Iaonard. a son of C.H. and Josie
Fuller Merrell. He moved with his
family to Hopkins County at an early
•age.
Mr Merrell founded Merrell
Chevrolet in 1927 in.Sulphur Springs,
opening his business on Gilmer Street
near the downtown square. The
at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Pleasant
Grove Cemetery with the Rev.
Gaither Day and the Rev. Mike House
officiating.
Pallbearers were Marlin Jones, Ed

Mr. Johnston was pronounced dead
Monday after suffering an apparent
heart attack.
He was born May 1, 1945, in El
Paso, the son of Wade Rutledge and
Louise Johnston. He married Faye
Chapman Jan. 28, 1967, in Sulphur
Springs. She survives.
He was the owner and operator of
Mount Fork Jewelry Repair on
Houston Street. He had been in the
jewelry business for five years.
Other survivors include a son,
Andrew Johnston of Sulphur Springs; Vaughn Posey. 78,'of San Marcos,
two daughters. Audrey Johnston of
Bryan and Juliette Johnston of
Sulphur Springs; his mother. Mrs.
Ixiuise Johnston of Albuquerque,
N.M.; a brother, Chris Johnston of El
Paso; two sisters, Nancy Ratliff of

Sulphur Springs, were held Wed-
nesday in the Sulphur Springs City
Cemetery with Jerry Putnam of-
ficiating.
Mr. Wallace died Sunday at his
home following an extended illness.
He was bbm in 1934 in Hopkins
County, the son of Benny Wallace and
Eva Bishop Wallace.
He was a 1952 graduate of Sulphur
Springs High School and was em-
ployed by Sanger Harris in Dallas.
Survivors inside his mother. Eva
Bishop Wallaof Dallas; three
brothers, Roy Wallace of Rockwall,
Donald Wallace of Irving, and Bobby
Wallace of Irving; and a sister, Mary
Harris of Dallas.
Local survivors include an aunt,
Nina Stewart of Cumby.

School District's Board of Trustees
and served as- chairman of the
Hopkins Countv United Fund Drive in
1957-58.
He was a deacon and leader in the
First Baptist Church, where he
served on the Building Committee for
the present sanctuary in the early
1950's. He also was a member of the
Busy Mens Bible Class of the church.
His memberships also included
Sulphur Spring^ Masonic Lodge No.
221 AF&AM and the Hella Temple
Shrine, Dallas.
He had operated one of the first
Grade A dairies (Jersey) in Hopkins
County. (
He married Myrtle White June 13,
1921, in Brashear. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Joe (Imogene) Gober and Mrs.
Frank (Vonda) Wright, both of
Sulphur Springs; eight grand-
children; and six great-
grandchildren,

financial assistance for the 1986-87
school year at Parts Junior College
may obtain applications now, ac-

of financial aid for PJC. Applications
should be made soon since a period of
six to eight weeks is required for
processing, deBin said. In addition to
grants, financial aid may be obtained
in the form of loans or work-study

is due now
Parents who will have a child,
enrolling in First Grade for the 1986-
87 school year in the Sulphur Springs
Independent School District and who
have not completed a First Grade
Census form are requested to do so as
soon as possible. A child must be 6
years of age on or before Sept. 1,1986
to be eligible toattend First Grade.
The census forms are available at
any elementary school or from the
Elementary Curriculum Office in the
Administration Building, 631 Con-
nally Street and can be completed in
a very short time. The purpose of
these forms is to identify those
children who will be in first grade
next fall. This information is needed
in order to formulate plans and make
school assignments.

appointed to the full-time position of
East Texas regional director for the
office of Sen. Phil Gramm. Moss said

liaison for 40 counties in East Texas
