Mr. Gustafson Dies
At Cranfills Gap
A resident of the Cranfills Gap
and Norse areas aU of his lifetime,
Charley Gustafson, aged 82 years,
2 months, and 25 days, died at the
home of his son, Thomas Gustaf-
son, in Cranfills Gap at 2:07 o’clock
on Monday morning, October 22.
Mr. Gustafson bad been in ill
health for quite a while before his
death.
Charley Oscar Valdemar Gustaf-
son was a son of the late Justus
and Ida Gustafson. He was born
on a farm near Cranfills Gap on
July 28, 1880, was baptized into
the Lutheran faith in Our Savior’s
Lutheran Church at Norse on Sept-
ember 12, 1880, and later was con-
firmed in that faith on June 6,
1806.
Soon after Mr. Gustafson’s birth
his family moved to the Norse com-
munity, where he continued to live
for 19 years.
On February 4, 1912, Mr. Gustaf-
son married Miss Eline Mathilda
Huse. To their marriage were bom
three sons, Cameron, Thomas, and
Sherman. Mr. Gustafson was en-
gaged in farming in Bosque County
all of his adult life until his retire-
ment in 1946.
It was on October 29, 1953, that
Mr. Gustafson was preceded in
death by his wife. In 1954 he
moved to Fort Worth where he
made his home with a son, Sher-
man Gustafson, until October 7,
at which time he returned to Cran-
fills Gap. Since then he had been
living with his son, Thomas Gus-
tafson.
Surviving Mr, Gustafson are his
three sons, Cameron Gustafson and
Thomas Gustafson, of Cranfills
Gap, and Sherman Gustafson, of
Fort Worth; four brothers, Albert
Gustafson, of Route 2, Meridian,
Joseph Gustafson, of Meridian, Ai-
mer Gustafson, of Cranfills Gap,
and Martin Gustafson, of Clifton;
two sisters, Miss Anne Gustafson
and Mrs. Nina Taylor, of Clifton;
ten grandchildren; and four great-
grandchildren. Preceding him ia
death, other than his wife, were
his parents and one sister, Minnie,
who died in girlhood.
Funeral sendees for Mr. Gustaf-
son were conducted by Reverend
Iver Haugen on Tuesday afternoon,
October 23, at 2:00 o’clock at the
Brister Funeral Home in Meridian
and at 2:30 o’clock at the St. Olaf
Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap.
During the services Mrs. Ben
Rhodes, Mrs. Clyde Tindall, and
Mrs. E. D. (Si) Johnson sang "What
a Friend We Have in Jesus” and
“Beneath the Cross of Jesus”.
Pallbearers were Cameron Gus-
tafson Jr., Donny Wayne Gustaf-
son, Robert O’Jay Gustafson, Hen-
ry Alta Anz, Eugene Dietiket, and
George Dixon.
Interment followed in the St.
Olaf Rock Church Cemetery be-
tween Clifton and Cranfills Gap.
Mr. Gustafson’s many friends of-
fer their sincerest sympathy to tha
members of his family at this time.
