The above is the picture of
the Dublin, Texas, official
flag, made official by an act of
the City Council at their
regular meeting in 1938. This
was a special distinction, as
this was the only city in Texas
or anywhere else that was
then known, that had a
special flag of its own.
The flag is green with the
shamrock and the lettering
white. The predominating
color is green which carries
out the Irish colors in
connection with the well-
known Irish Shamrock, this
motif very applicable to the
town.
Dublin’s flag was designed
by the local Boy Scouts under
the direction of Scout director
Sparks.
The order passed at the city
council meeting in 1938
follows:
"A Decree. We, the City
Council of Dublin, Texas, do
here and now declare that the
flag with a green background
and with a white shamrock
and white letterings of “Dub-
lin, Texas" be now and
forever the official flag of
Dublin, Texas. This decree is
officially passed this 2nd day
of August, 1938. Signed: C.E.
Leatherwood, Mayor; W.P.
Langston, Secretary."
