10. The girls took over the Mavericks
43-35.
The J.V. Lady Lions share the
District Crown with DeLeon and
Cisco, each with a 4-1 record: Dublin
beat DeLeon, DeLeon beat Cisco, and
Cisco beat Dublin.

The girls received a lot of support
throughout this season.
“The J.V. Lady Lions would like to
thank the parents and the community
of Dublin for being great fans,” said
Coach Cindy Davis.
Other people who contributed to the
J.V. Lady Lions include Shawna
Sieperda, Anne Marie Morton, Lisa
Bradley, Samantha Blain, Deanna
Wright, Elizabeth Blakley, and Lisa
Hurst.
“The J.V. Lady Lions had a great
year as their season record was 9-2.
They should prove to be a great help
to next year's varsity team,’’ said
Davis.
Cardinals roll over Strawn
The Lingleville varsity boys ended
the season Feb. 10 on a positive note
as they defeated Strawn 93-49.
The younger players worked hard
during this game as the older and ex-
perienced players did.
“Younger players went to a lot of
effort for the seniors on the ballclub.
They played extremely, hard and
showed a lot of pride,” said Coach
Charles Parnell.
Two seniors exhibited their talent
and spirit during the Strawn game.

Proposal is submitted
for salary increase
The four Texas teachers groups
have announced an agreement on a
minimum salary proposal for
teachers for consideration by the 70th
Session of the Texas legislature.
The announcement was made by
representatives of the Texas State
Teachers AsdMtation, Association of
Texas Professional Educators, Texas
Classroom Teachers Association, and
Texas Federation of Teachers.
The groups, which have separate
legislative programs, made the move
to prevent the legislative from mak-
ing the claim that the different
teacher organizations do not present
a clear message on salaries.
The proposal, according to the joint
statement, calls for raising the
statewide minimum salary schedule
from the current $15,200 per year for
beginning teachers and the $26,600
per year maximum for experienced
teachers to $17,080 per year at the bot-
tom and $29,380 per year for career
teachers at the maximum step for the
first year of biennium.
The proposed figures for 1988-89 are
$18,100 per year minimum and $31,000
per year maximum. Step movement
on the schedule each year would
continue.
The increment between steps is ad-
justed by the 7.5 percent and 4.7 per-
cent inflation indices used by the
Texas Education Agency’s Advisory
Committee on Accountable Costs.
Numbers are based on consultants'
recommendations for the 1983 Select
Committee on Public Education,
headed by H. Ross Perot.
The consultants, Waters, Trego,
and Davis, suggested a beginning
figure for 1986-87 of $17,080 as the
minimum salary to remain com-
petitive with private business for new
teachers and to pay career teachers
commensurately to hold them in
public school teaching rather than
having them leave for more lucrative
jobs.
In light of economic conditions,
TSTA, ATPE, TCTA and TFT are
proposing this figure for 1987-88.
finished with much class and honor,”
commented Parnell.
This season's players were young
and inexperienced. However, they
still worked hard and played as a
team.
“I’m extremely proud of the ac-
complishments with a relatively
young club. We only had one starter
from the previous year and he was
the team leader. He helped the
younger players rise above their
ability,” saia Parnell.
Those players who had an excellent
game included Kreg Welch, Jody
Pack, Kurt Brown, Chad Lingle,
Larry Griffin, and Muncy.
a son Beyer still had an injured
knfee.
Muncy had a powerful night as he
led the game. He put up 55 points for
Lingleville and gained four offensive
rebounds and seven defensive
rebounds.
Lingle also scored well during the
game. He put up 22 points and gained
three offensive rebounds and two
defensive rebounds.
Brown scored eight points during
the game and gained four offensive
rebounds and four defensive
rebounds.
Welch gained three offensive re-
bounds and three defensive rebounds
while Moore gained one offensive and
one defensive rebounds.
Pack scored two points and gained
two offensive rebounds and one
defensive rebound.
Jones gained five offensive re-
bounds and five defensive rebounds
while Griffin scored two points and
gained one defensive rebound.

Seventh grade girls

The Dublin seventh grade girls had
a hard night against Ranger as they
fell 36-1. This makes the girls 1-13 for
the season.
“Our girls suffered a hard loss
against Ranger,” said Coach Lucy
Isom.
Tesha Shafer was noted as offen-
sive player. She scored one point.
Stephanie Thiebaud and Shanon
Stapleton both were defensive
players.
Isom said Ranger worked very
quickly on offense and worked their
press against the seventh grades very
effectively.
Parents, family, and friends were
always there for the seventh grade
girls to help support them at each
ballgame.
“We appreciate the support that
has been shown for the Dublin
seventh grade basketball girls.
Thanks to everyone who came to our
games and encouraged us,” said
Isom.
