Doctor Crabtree: I am considering
having my teeth polled and a denture
made. However, when 1 consulted my
dentist, he told me that there were
three teeth on the top and five on the
bottom that were worth saving. He
recommended partial dentures.
My problem is that my teeth are so

Gibson chairs committee
Texas House Speaker Gib Lewis, D-
Fort Worth, has appointed State
Representative Bruce Gibson to the
Chairmanship of the Financial In-
stitutions Committee for the House of
Representatives.
Gibson, a four-term Democratic
lawmaker from Cleburne, was also
appointed by the Speaker to the
membership of the House Committee
on State Affairs.

There are several different
methods of constructing an overden-
ture and preparing the sound teeth to
receive it.
The function, however, is basically
the same for all overdentures. The
denture fits over the natural tooth
roots which have been reduced to
remove decay and to receive the
denture.
The teeth secure the denture and
provide stability. Many times the
natural teeth have already broken off
due to decay or trauma and may need
very little preparation before receiv-
ing an overdenture

suggest?
Dear Reader: Your dentist is right
in wanting to keep the teeth that could
be saved. When teeth are extracted,
the bone which is needed to support
the denture slowly deteriorate. This
leaves the patient with increasing dif-
ficulty in wearing their denture
However, an overdenture is an
alternative to a partial denture which
would also allow you to retain your

Legislature.
In making the announcement Lewis
cited Gibson's knowledge on the
issues likely to be considered by the
two panels.
“Representative Gibson has great
insight and regard for those matters
that affect the banking and savings
industries in Texas as well as those
impacting the administration of state
government,” said Lewis.
Lewis said that Gibson’s leadership
during this session as he works to
preserve to preserve the interests of
the citizens in District 58 and the
State of Texas.

and, at the same time, support for the
overdenture.
By retaining the teeth, the patient
also retains the bone and, thus, is
likely to get years of comfortable
wearfropT his dentures.
The patient wearing an overden-
ture has the advantage of a stable,
comfortable denture. Along with this,
is an added bit of time with oral
hygiene since the tops off the tooth
roots must be kept brusjied and clean
just as if they were fuU size teeth.
You surely should investigate this
type of denture as an alternative to a
conventional denture with its related
problems.
