The Dublin Senior Citizens, Inc.
would like to report that we had a
good turnout for our fund raiser
dance and a good time was had by
all. In fact a repeat performance
has been requested.
Many of our friends from
Stephenville, De Leon, Hico,
Hamilton, Granbury, Brownwood,
Rising Star and Eastland — to
name a few — attended. It is most
gratifying when such a diverse
group of people are so supportive.
We hope to be able to reciprocate
in like manner.
Dale Cox and his band fur-
nished the music free gratis, with
Bill Neal joining the group. We
would like to take this opportunity
to express our appreciation and
thanks.
You, the public, are award of

familiar. One such area is being to
offer, at least twice a month, a
blood pressure check for our
seniors and periodic eye exams.
The hearing aid reps are at the
center twice a month. The group
furnishing the blood pressure
checks, have dropped us from
their schedule without notice. We
would like to request anyone
knowing the procedure to call the

any senior citizen of your acquain-
tance giving them any information
you might have in order to assist
us. Peihaps by the time this year is
ovo all of us will be better
educated regarding the ins and
outs of providing the elderly with
health, food, transportation and
recreation programs.
Most of our day-to-day ac-
tivities are progressing right along.
Father Baker, Ernie Hewitt, and
Wayne Hammit are making their
regular appearances and are im-
measurably appreciated. Talks and
inspirational messages are being
presented by various members.
Domino players are still being
very competitive and the quitters
are continuing to use their nimble
fingers. Our volunteer cooks and
kitchen helpers still prepare and
serve good food. There was a
cleanup/clean out work day Satur-
day, May 19, and the center
gained another room which had
previously been used as a storage
room. We have two up-coming ac-
tivities we need to announce —
Saturday, June 2 at 5 p.m. is the
first Bingo night of the month,
Thursday, June 7, at 7 p.m. is our
regular monthly dance night with
the Dale Cox Band providing the
music. Both activities will have a
covered dish meal.
If anyone is interested in renting
our facility for a reunion, club
meeting or whatever, give us a call
at 445-2006 or come by 202 E.
Clinton. We are available Monday
through Friday from 9 a m. to 1
p.m. or leave a message on the
answering machine.
We are continuing our open-
door policy and invite you to visit
us at anytime. You, the public, are
always welcome. See Ya!

Library Update
By CAROLYN HOLDEN
Read this summer
School is just about out if not
already and I hope that a lot of
these young people will find their
way to the Library this summer to
read what’s new. We have
received several new books for the
younger reader and they will be on
the shelves shortly.
Remember the summer movies,
starting next Thursday, June 7.
The first movie will be “Angel and
Big Joe” to be shown at 2 p.m. We
plan to show one short feature film
every week all summer and hope
that we will get a good response.
Keep in mind that the Summer
Reading Club will start July 2 and
we will write about times later on.
We will have a book sale going
on all this week and next to help
fund a new piece of equipment
that we want so come in and look
around at all of the book selections
we have to offer.
New on the shelf at the Library
is ‘Tresspass” bf Caroline
Bridgewood. Set in Engfehd at the
outset of World War n, it is the
story of a large family shattered by
divided loyalties and the dream of
holding them together. Come in
and browse the shelves for reading
material and take a peek at our
book sale at the same time.
