Citizens group organizes
David Locke was elected president
of the board of directors of Citizens
for Better Education, a group which
held its organizational meeting Satur-
day night.
Also serving as directors of the
organization are Guy Hall, Ronnie
Couch, Bill Zimmerman and Janie
Fain.
"Three months ago several
members of our organizational com-
mittee thought we need a citizens
group to support the school system,
help resolve problems and head off
future problems/' said Locke. 'We
think the school board has done well
in the last few months to resolve pro-
blems, but we think the school can
use support and input with the
changes coming." he said
Locke spid Citizens for Better
Education wants to give local
students the best education the local
school system can afford.
The basic goals of the organization.
Locke said, are to communicate
school related business and policies
to the public; communicate com-
munity sentiment on issues to the
school board; present positive at-
titudes and alternatives to present
conditions and policies; offer
reconstruction of weak links in the
education process; and initiate input
from the community to achieve an ex-
cellent education institution.
"Our intentions are not to be an ex-
tra board of education or to become
character assassins,” stated Locke.
According to the by-laws accepted
at Saturday’s meeting, charter
members are those who joined at the
organizational meeting. All members
must sign an allegiance statement
and the general membership votes on
whether newcomers can become
members. There were 27 people pre-
sent at Saturday’s meeting.
Members of Citizens for Better
Education must live within the
Dublin Independent School System.
By-laws of the organization
establish that a month must elapse
before a vote will be taken on any

If there's.one thing you can count
on in thus part of Texas, it’s a steady flow of
electricity. Every time you flip a switch or
plug in an appliance, you depend on power
being there instantly. This reliable supply
of electricity would not readily available
to homes, businesses apd industries without
the efforts of our hard-working employees.
Because of their firm dedication, we've
been able to hold down electricity costs
while meeting the needs of one of the nation's fastest-growing areas.
At Texas Utilities Electric Company; planning for your energy future
is just as important as helping you use your electricity wisely today. Part of
the effort is pursuit of strict cost controls, options such as our Energy Action
Program, cogeneration arrangements with industry and the use 6f lower-cost
Texas lignite coal for generating fuel.
The right amount of electricity for our area, at the right price. We're
working to make sure that your supply of electricity stays as dependable .
as ever. ”
