Mr. Standefer's
Obituary Is Given
Funeral servicer for J. L. Stan-
defer Sr., aged 67 years, 3 months,
and 28 days, of 1301 Park Drive in
Hillsboro, were held at 3:00 o’clock
on Thursday afternoon, April 2, at
the First Methodist Church in that
city and were conducted by Rev-
erend Guy Perdue, pastor of the
church. He was assisted by Rev-
erend Bob Cook.
Mr. Standefer, a former reaident
of Clifton, died, as mentioned in
last week's Record, at approximate-
ly 100 o'clock on Wednesday morn-
ing, April 1, in the Hillsboro Clinic-
Hospital as the result of a heart
attack. It was the previous Satur-
day that Mr. Standefer became iU
as he and his wife were returning
to Hillsboro from San Antonio,

Well In Contests
During the pest week the Clifton
Chapter of the Future Fanners of
America has received the results
of two recent judging contests in
which it competed and has learned
that it did well in both.
The Dairy Judging Team, com-
posed of Gary Holt, Lloyd Hampe,
and Melvin Preacher, placed 24th
among 225 teams that competed at
the Houston Fat Stock Show and
Rodeo. Gary Holt was the 12th
high individual out of 675 boys
who competed.
The above team also did well in
the Area VIII Dairy Judging Con-
test held at Stephenville on April
4. Melvin Prescher received a
score of 499 points to be recog-
nized as third high individual in
the contest, while the team effort
brought home the second place
plaque. By placing second, the
team earned the right to compete
in the State Contest to take place
on Saturday, May 2, at Texas A.
& M. University.
Clifton’s Livestock Judging Team,
composed of Jerry H1U, John Mit-
chell, and Ronnie Sinderud, also
judged at Stephenville but failed
to earn the right to compete at the
State Contest.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Halbert were
able to bring their new baby home
from the hospital last Saturday.
The infant weighed less than five
pounds when born, and she remain-
ed in the hospital until she gained
more.

though Mr. Smith is still in bed, he
