Residents appreciate visits from young and fresh vegetables
The residents wanted me to ac-
knowledge the fact that last Sun-
day when the Greens Creek
Church came and sang for us,
they brought several young
people with them. This made
them very happy, as they love the
young ones coming up here to be
with them.
The Church of Christ Church
brought several during the sum-
mer and now we miss having
them with us.
We were all thrilled to have the
Happy AARP’s back with us
Wednesday and as usual they
gave us a real good program and
everyone enjoyed them very
much.
At this time we want the thank
Mr. Floyd Armstrong forbringing
us a bucket of apples and to Jerry
Cate who is still bringing us
vegetables. They so enjoy all the
fresh stuff.
Jerry carried on the nail care
Monday and got a lot done while
I was gone, taking my husband
for his check up. After catarac
surgery, he now has 20-20 vision
in that eye.
We had our usual walks, sitter-
cise, and light exercise with the
others on Tuesday and Thursday
mornings.
Wednesday morning, the
Church of Christ came and
brought several young men a
wonderful sermon. Then one of
their teachers led us in the songs
and one gave the closing prayer.
Mr. Gibson, their teacher,
played lots of ole songs and we
requested after we had coffee,
juice and donuts. This gave
everyone such a lift
I want to congratulate Tammy
Kennedy on her becoming the
new Activity Director of the
Dublin Nursing Center.
The first of October there are
going to be so many changes in
the nursing homes that our super-
visors and administrators have
gone to and and are still going to
several seminars to leam all we
can so we will be able to do the
best jobs possible with these
changes.
Thursday after the walks and
sittercise, we had mens only in
the dining room with refresh-
ments and I read them a story
about a couple and how they got
together in 1918. This brought
many good stories from the men
themselves.
In the evening, the residents
played catch and foot kicking
with a beach ball which makes
very good exercise for them all.
They then played dominoes.
Fridays we had our walk, sit-
tercise and then Bingo with
Johnnie Turley, who is doing this
for them. This brings out a good
group and they have a lot of fun.
Fridays finishes the week with
sing-a-long and popcorn in the
evening. Saturdays, everyone
does their own thing, but would
like to have some one come in
and entertain them.
That is about it for this week.
Hope everyone stays well and I
leave you with this thought. “We
pass this way only once...unless
your spouce is reading the road
map.”

Technical books for school age at library
We have received a large num-
ber of technical books for school-
age readers, and I encourage all of
you to come in and take a look at
these good books. Hopefully they
will be of assistance to your child
in school.
Victoria Holt has once again
produced a “best seller” and we
have it on the shelf of this library,
titled “The Snare of Serpants”. I
am sure that her fans will enjoy it
New author, Alison McLeay
has written a book titles “Passage
Home” and the patrons who have
read it surely do praise this book.
Some even say that it is as good
as “Green City in the Sun” or
‘Trade Winds” (both of which are
at the library, by the way).
In my efforts to keep the clas-

sics on the shelf, replace them is
more like it, I have recently put a
new copy of “Drums Along the
Mohawk” on the shelf. Written by
Walter Edmons, (not by James
Fennimore Cooper, you my friend
were wrong, and I agreed with
you!) this book tells of pioneer
life in the Mohawk Valley in New
York State and the menace of the
Seneca Indians.
“The Mother Tongue; English
and How It Got That Way” by
Bill Bryson offers a journey
through the intricacies, puzzles,
and quirks of the English lan-
guage, tracing the history of
English from its earliest origins to
the present day.
Belva Plain has once again hit
the instant best seller list with her
new book titled “Harvest”. The
Werner family saga continues as
Iris and Theo’s marriage dissol-
ves, their son Steve is drawn to
the charismatic son of Paul Wer-
ner’s neice, Meg and the surprises
in this book do not stop there, a
must read book.
I have to make one more plea
for the return of two videos that
were taken a couple of weeks ago,
the library and the patron who
was robbed have decided to offer
a reward for the return of the two
videos. So if you are tired of look-
ing at the videos, bring them back
and you will get the reward.
Remember that there is still
time to get your family history in
to the Area History Book.
Library hours are 1 to 5
weekdays.

Ladies enjoy outing to the Oxford House
The weater is just beautif ul this
time of year. You can walk out-
side and breath in the fresh air and
be overwhelmed by the heat at
8:00 in the morning.
The residents have enjoyed sit-
ting out on the porch in the mor-
nings and watching te sunrise and
the passing of the clouds. On what
a wonderfull day it turns out to be.
We have been exercising in the
morning to music. Lots of the
residents have said how good they
feel afterwards.
On Monday after exercise the
residents held the residental
council meeting. The town and
country band came to sing fra- us.
Oh what a beautiful sound they
can make together.
On Tuesday Sept. 25 we had
bingo with Shirley LaBaume then
we went on our Ladies Day Out
