Sam Golden Brings Mrs.
John Golden To Clifton
After Visiting Relatives
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wood, of Hous-
ton, came by Clifton on September
4 and picked up her grandmother,
Mrs. John Golden, who accompani-
ed the Woods on to Phillips to
viiit with Mr. and Mrs. Percy
Thompson. The Thompsons are the
parents of Mrs. Wood, and Mr*.
Thompson is a daughter of Mrs.
Golden.
Mrs. Golden returned to Clifton
Tuesday, September 29, with her
brother-in-law, Sam Golden, of
Piainview, following a visit with
numerous relatives. Mr. Golden,
who is making his headquarters
here with his brother-in-law. Jack
Schofield, is enjoying a visit with
relatives in this area.
- While Mrs. Golden was away, she
also accompanied the Thompsons
tt Bartlesville, Oklahoma to sec
tReir son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. John Thompson, and
children, Carolyn and Gerald, and
also to San Angelo to visit with
another son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Thompson,
and children, Connie and Curtis.
Before leaving for Clifton Mrs.
Golden also visited at Piainview
with her nephew, Bill Golden, and
his family and with Sam Golden.
Mr*. Golden then spent from
Tuesday of last week until Monday
of this week at Valley Mills with
her ton-in law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Cone Dansby. Hie Dans-
by* participated in the Heart O’
Texas Fair trail ride this week.
PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Dowdy spent
last Sunday in Dallas visiting with
their son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Dowdy, and children,
Billie Kay and Charles Lynn. Bill
Dowdy, who recently had an ap-
pendectomy, was able to return to
his home from the hospital last
Sunday. Also returning to Clifton
with the Dowdys Sunday night was
Mrs. Dowdy’s sister, Mrs. Nona
Adams, who has been visiting with
relatives in the Dallas area for the
past several weeks.
Mrs. Dora Mathews
Of Vallty Mills, Dias
Mrs. Dora Mathewa, aged 78, of
VaUey Mills, died at 4:15 o’clock
on Sunday morning, October 4, In
the Clifton hospital, where she had
been a patient since June 18 of this
year.
A native Texan, Nra. Mathews
had lived near Valley Mills all of
her life.
Surviving Mrs. Mathewa are two
brothers, Louis Billing and Fred
Billing, of Valley Mills; two sis-
ters, Mrs. Bertha Jones, of Valley
Mills, and Mrs. Ross Darby, of
Waco; a step-son, Irving Young-
blood, of Fort Worth; and a step-
daughter, Mrs. Louise Bush, of
Waco.
Funeral services were held at
2:00 o’clock on Monday afternoon.
October 5, at the Krueger Funeral
Home Chapel in VaUey Mills, with
Reverend Billy McClellan, Baptist
pastor, officiating. Interment fol-
lowed in the Valley Milla Cemetery.
