rah), of Cedar Shores Estates, Lake

in addition to bar parents, were
two brothers, Leon Lane, of Mer-
cedes, in 1900 and Grady Lane, of
San Benito, on December 17, 1963.
The latter would have reached his
74th birthday on December 20,
1903. Funeral services were held
for him on December 18, 1903.
Funeral services for Mrs. Poston
were held at 2:00 o’clock on Thurs-
day afternoon, January 2, at the
First Methodist Church in Valley
Mills and were conducted by the
pastor, Reverend Peyton Goodman,
and Reverend J. W. Shelton, dis-
trict superintendent of the Brown-
wood District of the church. In-
terment followed in the Poston-
Odle Cemetery between Mosheim
and Valley Mills.
Members of Mrs. Poston’s family
have the sincerest sympathy of
everyone in their bereavement.

ZION CHURCH WILL
HAVE ANNUAL MEETING
At 1:30 o'clock on Sunday after-
noon, January 12, the congregation
of the Zion United Church of Christ
at Womack will have its annual
meeting, according to information
received from Reverend W. R.
Simpson Jr., pastor of the church.
Reverend Simpson pointed out,
‘This is an important time in the
life of the church since it is not
only a time for reports of the past
year but also a time for planning
for the year to come. It is import-
ant that as many members as pos-
sible be at this meeting."
The following men have been
nominated to fill vacancies on the
Zion Church Council: Adolph
Thiele and Bennie Gaskamp. W. C.
Hafer also has been nominated to
serve as an elder of the church for
a two-year term.

Mrs. Floy Weeks Rapp of Smith
field, a native of Meridian, died
Sunday. She was a sister of Jim
Weeks and Mrs. R. H. Dagley, both
of Meridian. Funeral services for
Mrs. Rapp were held Tuesday after-
noon at 2:30 o'clock at Shannon
Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Rapp. 66,
had lived in Keller 38 years and
was a member of the Keller Metho-
dist Church and a lifetime member
of the Women's Society of Chris-
tian Service. She also is survived
by her husband, A. J. Rapp; one
son, A J. Rapp Jr. of Fort Worth;
two grandchildren; and one great-
grandchild.

neth Behringer, of Clarke Air
Force Base in the Philippine Is-
lands, announce the birth of a son,
Earl Russell, January 3. Grand-
parents of the new arrival are Mr.
and Mrs. Earl R. Behringer of
Meridian.
Funeral services for Mrs. Vera
Jones Treadway, a sister of Mrs.
A! C. Stewart of Meridian, were
held in Brownwood on Wednesday,
January I. Burial was in New Lon-
don, Connecticut. Mrs. Treadway,
who was 73, died in a Brownwood
hospital Tuesday. She was born
in Copperas Cove snd lived in Tem-
ple where she trained as a nurse
at Kings Daughter's Hospital. Also
surviving is a brother, F. E. Jones
of Larnpssas.
Mr. snd Mrs. Walter Spitzer have
returned to their home in Aruba,
Netherlands, West Indies, after a
visit here and in Austin since Nov-
ember 15. The Spitzers visited here

and other relatives and in Austin
with their three children and their

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Markman of
Houston visited friends here Tues-
day of last week en route to Dallas
to attend the Cotton Bowl game
the following day. They were ac-
companied by their sons, Danny,
who is in basic training at Fort
Polk, Louisiana, and Jack, a stu-
dent at The University of Texas.
Miss Denzil Terry returned to
Fort Worth Tuesday of last week
after spending the holidays here
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.
W. Terry.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Day spent
the week-end in Stamford with his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mr* J V. Day.
Mrs. Ophelia Tidwell has return-
ed home from'Saginaw where she
spent the holidays with her son,
Gerald, his wife, and their children.
James Robert Johnson, the fath-
er of Paul Johnson, of this city,
died Saturday, December 21, in a
Cleburne nursing home where he
had been a resident for the past
two and one-half years Funeral
services were held at 2:00 o’clock
on Monday afternoon, December
23, at the First Baptist Church in
Grandview, He had been a resident
of Johnson County for 18 years and
formerly Hied in De Leon.
