Mrs. Ella Hamilton
Mrs. Ella B. Hamilton, 91,
1333 Jefierson St., died at 11:30
a.m. Friday in Memorial
Hospital. She was born Feb. 8,
1889 in Kentucky, daughter of
Hiram and Alice Williams. She
was a member of the Pine
Forest United Methodist
Church.
She was married to Homer
Welton Hamilton in 1907 at
Saltillo. He preceded her in
death June 1,1930. She also was
preceded in death by a son,
John Norris Hamilton in 1966,
and a daughter, Edith Mae
Stephens in 1938.
Survivors include a son,
Homer Leroy Hamilton of
Sulphur Springs; two
daughters, Jessie Marie Hut-
chinson and Hazel Bemett, both
of Dallas; a brother, Rudy
Williams of Pine Forest; four
grandchildren, and seven great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Sunday at Tapp Funeral Home,
with the Rev. Bob May of-
ficiating. Burial was in the Pine
Forest Cemetery with John
Riley Rhodes, Maurice Jordan,
Noble Bain, Joe Bain Jr., Keith
Bain and Joe Pat Jordan ser-
ving as pallbearers.
Billy Kyle George
Services for Billy Kyle
George, one-year-old son of
James Byron and Martha
Osborn George of Alba, were
held Friday at 11 a.m. at the
County Line Baptist Church in
Yantis with the Rev. Dale
Osborn officiating. Interment
was in the Enon Cemetery in
Alba.
He was bom Feb. 11, 1979 in
Tyler and died Wednesday at
the Mother Frances Hospital in
Tyler.
Survivors include his
parents; a brother, Eric George
of Alba; a sister, Dori George of
Alba; grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Billy George of Yantis and
the Rev. and Mrs. Dale Osborn
of Alba and great-
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Byron Davis of Yantis and Mrs.
Henry George of Brashear.
Serving as pallbearers were
Tony Gilbreath, Don Weakley,
Harold White and Ronnie Kile.
Honorary pallbearers were

Nelson, of 110 Randolph St.
Mr. Nelson died Saturday
night in Denver, Colo, at a
daughter’s residence.
F.G. Mosley
Services were held at 2 p.m.
Saturday for F.G. (Francis)
Mosley, 70, of Route 4, Winn-
sboro, in the Pickton United
Methodist Church with the Rev.
Larry Nicholson and the Rev.
Jesse Miller officiating. In-
terment was in the New Pickton
Cemetery with Masonic
graveside rites.
Mr. Mosley died at 12:15 pjn.
Thursday at Baylor University
Medical Cento*.
He was bom June 1, 1909 in
the Shooks Chapel community
to Henry Douglas and Mattie
Hampton Mosley.
Mr. Mosley married Lucille
Turner in Sulphur Springs on
Nov. 26,1935. He was a member
of the Pickton Methodist
Church and the Pickton
Masonic Lodge. He was a
retired dairyman and had been
a bus driver for the Como-
Pickton School District for
seven years.
Survivors include his wife; a
son, Doug Mosley of Pickton; a
daughter, Mrs. William
(Luann) Shortnacy of Kennett,
Mo.; a brother, Travis Mosley
of Sulphur Springs; two sisters,
Mrs. Jessie Westbrook of
Galveston and Mrs. Fay
Mathews of LaMarque and five
grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were
V.H. (Bulldog) Sparks, Alex
Mowat, Randall Nichols, Lewis
Ham, George Law and Putter
Alford.
Tapp Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
Homer Campbell
Homo* Campbell, 71, of the
Birthright community, died at 7
a.m. Tuesday at the residence
of a son in Birthright.
He was bom June 22,1908, in
Franklin County, the son of
Jack and Emma Darlin
Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was a member
of the Baptist church. He had
lived in Birthright since 1947.
He was a retired farmer.
He was married to Ora Lee
Cannady on Aug. 8, 1929 at
Newsome, Texas. She survives.
Other survivors include five
sons, Wendell Campbell and
Joy D. Campbell, both of Bir-
thright, Wayne Campbell,
Royce Campbell and Charles
Campbell, all of Sulphur
Springs; three daughters, Mrs.
Beatrice Puckett and Mrs.
Annie Faye Evans, both of
Dallas, and Mrs. Emma Mae
Williams of Garland; a brother,
A.J. Campbell of Pine Mills,
Texas; a sister, Mrs. Sallie
Townsend of Newsome; 26
grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services were con-
ducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the
Murray-Orwosky chapel, with
the Rev. Morris Hill officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Cemetery
near Winnsboro.
Hubert Gamblin
Services for Hubert Gamblin
of Grand Saline were held at
1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the
English Funeral Home Chapel
in Mineola with interment in the
Sharp Cemetery in Yantis.
Mr. Gamblin died Tuesday at
6:30 ajn. in the Grand Saline
Hospitat
Survivors include two
daughters, Mrs. Charles Hill of
Yantis and Mrs. Cletha Nell
Howie of Liberty; and five
grandchildren.

Mr. Glosup, a former resident
of the Posey community, died
Wednesday morning at the
family residence.
J.O. Askew
John O. Askew, 81, of 238
Collge died at 2 a.m. Wed-
nesday at Presbyterian
Hospital in Dallas.
He was bom Nov. 6, 1898 in
Sulphur Springs to B.Z. and
Minnie McBride Askew.
He was a member of the First
Baptist Church and a lifelong
resident of Hopkins County.
Services were conducted at 10
a.m. Thursday in the Tapp
Funeral Chapel with Dr. Jack
Robbins officiating. Burial was
in City Cemetery.
Survivors include two
nephews, Joe A. Gober and Joe
A. Williamson, both of Sulphur
Springs, and a niece, Alice Joy
Smith of Mabank.
He was preceded in death by
a brother, Edwin Askew, and
two sisters, Mrs. Hallie Gober
and Mrs. Zoline Williamson.

Bishop, 50, of 1614 Small St in
Grand Prairie were held

Funeral Chapel with the Rev.
L.B. Morgan officiating. In-
terment was in the South
Liberty Cemetery.
Mr. Bishop died Friday at 4
p.m. at the family residence.
He was bom June 30, 1929 in
Wichita Falls to Leonard and
Dilly Dowdy Bishop. He was a
veteran of World War II and a
construction worker for the City
of Grand Prairie.
Survivors include two
brothers, James C. Bishop of
Atlanta, Ga. and Truitt Bishop
of Dallas.

Vaughn, Leo Redding, Cleve
Hudson, Jack Gafford and

Dial Posey
Services for Dial Posey, 73, of
201 Como were held at 2 p.m.
Monday in the Murray-Orwosky
Chapel with the Rev. James
Edge and the Rev. Lee Smith
officiating. Interment was in
the Restlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Posey died Sunday
morning at a local residence.
He was bom Dec. 13, 1906 in
Sulphur Springs to Thomas
Becton and Elizabeth Charlton
Posey.
Survivors include two sisters,
Mrs. Gladys Cundiff of Sulphur
Springs and Mrs. Novell Harris
of Winnsboro; and a brother,
Oscar Posey who serves with
the Merchant Marine.
He was preceded in death by
a brother, George B. Posey, in
1967.
Serving as pallbearers were
A.J. Cundiff, Wayne Cundiff,
Louis Charlton, J.W. Kimbell,
Elmer Dial and Billy Lawson.
R.M. Hill
Services for Reginald M. Hill,
65, of Mesquite were held at 1:30
p.m. Monday at the Anderson-
Clayton Funeral Chapel in
Mesquite with the Rev. Buist B.
Wilson officiating. Graveside
services were at 4:30p.m. in the
Shooks Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife,
Francene Hill of Mesquite; two

Hill, both of Mesquite; a
daughter, Mrs. Linda Millican

RICK PALMER, president of
First National Bank, reports
that deposits at the new in-
stitution topped $2 million
during the first month of
operation. The bank opened
Jan. 28. He says that he is
looking forward to a good year
despite the high interest rates,
economic turmoil and runaway
inflation.

Sulphur Springs Jaycees have
opened an account called the
“Miss Sulphur Springs War-
drobe Account, 1980” for
anyone wishing to make
donations toward the wardrobe
that Debbie Osbum, Miss
Sulphur Springs, will be
wearing when she competes at
the Miss Texas Pageant in
June.
“She’s going to need 25
changes of clothing just for the
Miss Texas Pageant alone,”
said a Jaycee spokesman, “her
parents and the Jaycees have
already spent a bundle and
we’ll need some clothing money
for the pageant.”
The Jaycee spokesman said
that Miss Osbum is working
hard to perfect her talent act fa
the pageant and “is busy
working toward becoming the
best Miss Sulphur Springs
ever.”
Anyone wishing to donate to
the fund may deposit the money
in the “Miss Sulphur Springs
Wardrobe Account, 1980” at the
First National Bank on
Mockingbird Lane.
Outstanding FHA students
Diana McGregor (center), FHA Advisor for the Como-Pickton Schools, presented the outstanding
FHA student awards to Frances Rhodes (left) and Robin Webb at the combined FFA-FHA Parent
Banquet Tuesday night. McGregor said the awards go to the students with "an outstanding overall
level of accomplishment in the FHA department which includes classroom as well as work in the
community and home."

Speed tops local listing
Sulphur Springs policemen
kept busy in the 29-day month
just ended as they issued 69
traffic citations, took 79 offense
reports, made 88 arrests and
cleared 27 cases.
The most common traffic
violation during February was
for speeding, with 32 persons
cited and two additional drivers
cited for speeding in a school
zone.
Other common violations
were no driver’s license,
running a red light and expired
motor vehicle inspection
stickers.
Thefts accounted for most of
the offenses during the month
(32) and officers received
reports of 21 burglaries.
There were nine residences
reported burglarized, seven
businesses and five vehicles.
There were 11 cases of
malicious or criminal mischief
and nine assaults.
The criminal investigation
section was busy in February
as it cleared almost a case per
day with a total of 27.
There were 16 cases ruled
unfounded, eight were cleared
by arrest and three were
cleared without arrests.
Of the 88 arrests during the
month, 48 were for alcohol
related offenses.
There were 33 persons
arrested for public intoxication
and 15 for DWI. Nine persons
were arrested for theft, six on
warrants and six for traffic
violations.
