1 of Sulphur Springs, were
united in marriage in a dou-
ble-ring candlelight ceremony Sat-
urday, June 17, at 6 p.m. in First
Christian Church in Sulphur
Springs. The wedding was officiat-
ed by Pastor Doug Holt of Sulphur
Springs.
The bride is the daughter of John
Bailey and Kim Champagne of Sul-
phur Springs. The groom is the son
of Ann May and Powell Vickery of
Sulphur Springs. Given in marriage
by her father, the bride was intro-
duced by the “Wedding March.”
which was played on the organ by
Beverly Olyer.
The bride wore a designer gown
of ivory satin in a princess-style cut.
The bodice was of a delicately elab-
orate design of tiny seed pearls. It
had a scoop neckline, and the back
of the gown plunged into a V-
shape. Her matching veil was lined
with a satin border which flowed
down around her face and ruffled at
her shoulders.
The bride carried a round bou-
quet of roses in ivory and assorted
shades of pink, with baby’s breath
accenting each rose.
The satisfy the tradition of some-'
thing old and blue, the bride carried
a handkerchief which had been giv-
en to her employer and good friend.
Carolyn Gilliam of Sulphur
Springs. Something borrowed was
a pearl bracelet given to her from
her friend Jamie Hammons of Sul-
phur Springs. Something new was
her wedding dress.
The maid of honor was Kristin
Champagne, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Leslie Moore,
Amy Lewis, Amy Roundtree, Andi
Hinton and Dacy Weir, longtime
friends of the bride. They each
wore navy, floor-length, sleeveless
dresses and carried bouquets ol
ivory roses.
Carson Goggans of Sulphur
Springs was the flower girl. She
wore a tea-length ivory dress with
baby breath in her hair. She carried
a basket of dried pink roses.
The groom wore a black tuxedo
with an ivory vest. The best man
and groomsmen wore black tuxedos
and navy vests. Each had an ivory
rose boutonniere.
Chris Vickery, brother of the
groom, served as best man. Justin
Adair, Aaron Hohenburger, Heath
White, David Vickery and Bobby
Vickery served as groomsmen.
Steven Cade Vickery, nephew of
the groom, served as ring bearer.
He wore a black tuxedo with an
ivory vest, similar to that of the
groom.
The chapel of the church was
decorated with heart-shaped cande-
labra adorned with greenery and
bows. An array of votive candles,
small bright lights with ivory and
tulle and fresh flowers also decorat-
ed the church.
Musical selections were “Some-
where in the World,” “Standing
Right Next to Me,” and “I Will Be
Here for You.”
Shelley Adair, sister of the
groom, and Tommy Peugh sang
“From This Moment" after the
bride and groom lit the unity can-
dle.
The reception was hosted by the
bride's parents, and it took place in
the fellowship hall of First Christian
Church. It was catered by Melba's
Kreations. The room was decorated
with large Greek pillars adorned
with greenery, ivory tulle and tiny
bright lights. An assortment of fresh
fruit, vegetables and cheeses were
served.
The bride's cake was created by
Diane's Dreamcakes. The cake con-
sisted of four ivory tiers, lavished
with pearls and rosettes. Six-tier
cakes stood around the base of the
main cake with ivory ribbon
swirling down from the first pillar
to (He table. A Kalor Flo fountain
with fresh flowers was laid under-
neath the first layer.
The groom's cake was created by
Shelley Adair, sister of the groom.
It consisted of three-tiers with
bridges of strawberries flowing
down to the base of the tube.
The house party attendants were
Carolyn Gilliam, Jamie Hammons,
Tye Ragan, Micca Sidebottom and
Monica Kidwell of Sulphur
Springs.
The couple departed through a
shower of bubbles for their honey-
moon in San Antonio.
A bridal shower with an assort-
ment of gifts was hosted by friends
and co-workers at Fidelity Express
on May 25.

becue .dinner catered by Andi and
Mary Lou Wright in the fellowship
hall of First Christian Church. Bar-
becue brisket and sausage, beans,
potato salad and cherry and peach
cobbler were served.
The couple traveled to San Anto-
nio for their wedding trip before
starting their new life together in
Sulphur Springs.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of
Sulphur Springs High School. She is
also employed by Fidelity Express
in Sulphur Springs.
The groom is a 1995 graduate of
Sulphur Springs High School. He is
employed by Brookshire’s in Sul-
phur Springs.
Both are attending classes through
the Sulphur Springs Technical Cen-
ter.

Saleh Mohammed Ali, both of
I ikiffa, Bahrain, were united in
marriage in First Presbyterian
Church of Sulphur Springs on Satur-
day. July 15, at 3:30 p.m. The dou-
ble-ring ceremony was officiated by
the Rev. Ron Byrd of the University
Christian Church in Tyler.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Garmon of Miller
Grove. The groom is the son of Mrs.
and the late Mr. Saleh Mohammed
Ali of Riffa, Bahrain.
The sanctuary was decorated in the
bride’s chosen colors of ivory and
gold, with ivory urns flanking a brass
candle tree. The stained glass win-
dows held votive candles encircled
hy rings of ivory sweetheart roses
and greenery. Each pew was decorat-
ed with a brass bucket filled with
ivory sweetheart roses and Spanish
moss held by ivory satin ribbons.
The bride wore a formal ivory net
over a satin gown, featuring schiffli
embroidery and pearlized sequins.
The gown was accented by a fitted
high-rise bodice with a square neck-
line and three-quarter length sleeves.
The straight skirt featured a cathe-
dral-length train also embroidered
with sequins. A cathedral-length veil
of ivory pearlized tulle attached to a
crystal tiara complimented the gown.
The bride carried a cascading bou-
quet of ivory roses, peonies, cabbage
roses, Stephanotis, delphinium and
honeysuckle, tied with gold and pearl
beads and ivory ribbons and lace.
The bouquet was made by the bride's
cousin. Miss Kay Stripling.
Miss Kelsey Steele of Miller
Grove, niece of the bride, served as
flower girl. She w e a ballet-length
dress of pearlized ivory organdy over
satin The sleeveless bodice was
complimented by satin ribbon and
fabric rose detailing at the waist. She
wore a headpiece of ivory silk roses
and sprays of pearls.
The ring bearer was Master
Andrew Steele of Miller Grove,
nephew of the bride. He wore a full-
dress black double-breasted tuxedo
with an ivory rose boutonniere.
Lighting the candles was Mr. J.J
Steele of Miller Grove, nephew of
the bride.
Mrs. Rosemary Adams provided
organ music for the ceremony. She
played the ‘Wedding Processional"
from The Sound of Music” by
Richard Rogers. The recessional was
“Trumpet Voluntary” by Jeremiah
Clarke. Song selections included
"The Vaults of Heaven,” “Whistle
Down the Wind," “No Matter What,”
and ‘True Love,” sung by soloists

mon. Jr.
The reception took place in the
parlor of the First Presbyterian
Church. Houseparty members
included Mrs. Brenda Garmon, Mrs.
Nelda Gannon, Mrs. Gail Garmon,
Miss Angie Garmon and Miss Sarah
Garmon.
The Bride’s table was covered
with an ivory satin cloth, with an
overcloth of ivory net embroidered
w ith soutache braid. It held a four-
tiered wadding cake with apneot fill-
ing. The cake was decorated with
sprays of silk flowers. Guests were
served raspberry punch, mints, nuts,
chocolate-dipped strawberries and
chemes.
The groom’s table held a single-
layer chocolate cake with raspbeny
filling. The cake was decorated to
resemble a present, with chocolate
frosting and ribbons. Coffee, nuts
and mints were served with the
groom’s cake as well.
The gift table was covered with an
ivory cloth embroidered with gold
thread in a swirl design. It held a dis-
play of photographs of the bride and
groom as well as chocolates, bird
seed packets and miniature bridal
portraits for each guest.
After a wedding trip to Las Vegas,
Nev. and London, England, the cou-
ple will reside in Riffa. Bahrain
beginning Aug. 6.
The bride holds a bachelor of arts
from the University of the Ozarks in
Clarksville, Ark. and a master of
education degree from Texas A&M
University-Commerce. She is
employed by the United States
Department of Defense Education
Activity.
The bridegroom attended schools
in Manama, Bahrain and Hastings, *
East Sussex, England. He is self-
employed as a businessman in Man-
ama, Bahrain.
The bride was honored with a
bridal tea and shower in Manama,
Bahrain, at the home of her. Miss
Linda Berger. Guests were served a
variety of finger foods as well as tea
and coffee. Guests were colleagues
of the bride from the Bahrain School
in Manama, Bahrain.

hosted a kitchen shower for the bride
Saturday afternoon. July 8, in the
parlor of First Presbyterian Church.

The bride and groom were hon-
ored by her family with a barbecue
dinner and wedding shower follow-
ing their wedding reception on July
15. The dinner was held at the home
of the bride's aunt, Mrs. Genevea
Stripling, in Miller Grove. Guests
were treated to barbecue as well as a
variety of salads and desserts.
Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs.
Geneva Stripling and Mrs. Louise
Stripling, aunts of the bride, and
Miss Kay Stripling and Mrs. Jeanet-
ta Stripling Smith, cousins of the
bride. Guests in attendance were Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Garmon, Mrs. Car-
olyn Bums, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gar-
mon, Mr. and Mrs. Russ Cfermon,
Mrs. Marsha Potts, Mr. and Mrs.

Cathy and Lonnie Tully of Sulphur Springs announce the engage-
ment of their daughter Amy Michelle 'Hilly to Daniel Ray Under-
wood, son of Danny and Donna Underwood of Cumby. The cere-
mony will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in Richland Bap-
tist Church in the Brinker community. Friends and relatives are
invited to attend.
