Oct.25 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Shannon Oaks Church of Christ
of Sulphur Springs. Mr. Dale
Smith performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Darel D. Crump of
Sulphur Springs. The
bridegroom is the son of Senior
Master Sgt. and Mrs. Robert
Kramer of Omaha, Nebraska.
The church was decorated
with brass pew markers, brass
archway of candles and candle
trees with mauve tapered
candles. The potted cushion
palms in mauve and white were
delicately placed.
Escorted and given in
marriage by her father, the
bride wore a gown with a Queen
Anne neckline. The bodice of
the gown was covered with
Alencon Lace and dainty seed
pearls. The Bishop sleeves had
a ruffle at the cuffs. The soft
flowing skirt was elegantly
pleated with a flounce of dainty
crystal pleating outlined in
imported Alencon Lace. The
flounce hemline flows into a
lovely chapel train. The bride
wore a lovely hat with matching
lace and an overlay of soft
illusion that flowed into a soft
veil. She carried a bouquet of
cushion palms and starburst
palms of mauve and white
colors with a lift out cym-
bedium orchid coursage.
The bridesmaids wore full
length dresses with an overlay
of various shades of mauve and
gray floral organza and an
underdress of pale gray quiana
knit. They carried long stem
cushion palms and starburst
palms of mauve and white.
Matron of honor was Mrs.
Belenda Leach, cousin of the
bride from Allen, Texas. Miss
Debbie George, cousin of the
bride from Yantis, served as
the maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were Mrs. Lisa McCaig and
Mrs. Ann McAdams of Sulphur
Springs.
Best Man was Richard Watts.
Groomsmen were Dean Crump,
brother of the bride from
Abilene; Sammie Laing,
brother-in-law to the groom;
and Scott McAdams. Ushers
were Dale Crump, brother of
the bride, and Jeff Orwosky,
both of Sulphur Springs.
Music for the ceremony was
performed by a group of singers
from Shannon Oaks Church of
Christ. David McCaig sand
“If.” Mr. McCaig and Mary
Dicken sang “Born Again.”
“You Decorated My Life” was
performed Ron Ingram. Mr.
and Mrs. Ron Ingram sang
“Follow Me.” Other songs
during the ceremony included
“Never My Love” and “Longer
Than.”
Members of the houseparty
were Mrs. Charlotte Allison,
Mrs. Marlene Davis, Mrs. Vicki

The reception was held in the
fellowship hall of the church
and was decorated in the brides
chosen colors.
The bride is a graduate of
Sulphur Springs High School
and is currently employed at
Larry Moore Insurance in
Sulphur Springs. The groom is
currently employed at Rock-
well International in Sulphur
Springs.
After a trip to Florida, the
couple will make their home at
701 W. Industrial in Sulphur
Springs. .

Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in her home.

bridesmaids brunch on
Saturday, Oct. 25 in the home of
Jane Kivell. Other hostess were
Marjorie West and Ann
McAdams. The ladies enjoyed a
buffet style meal.
The rehearsal was held at the
Shannon Oaks Church of Christ
and the dinner followed at 8:30
p.m. at K-Bobs Steak House.

Waverly Club
The Waverly club met Nov.
14, in the home of Mrs. William
McDowell.
Club President Mrs. S.T.
Garrison presided over a short
business session during which a
new member, Mrs. Roger
Plummer and a visitor, Mrs.
W. A. McDowell were
welcomed.
Leading the program on
home interests, Mrs. Robert
McDowell called on each
member for a presentation of
“Childhood Nostalgia.”
These were experiences of
interests in their homes during
early childhoodand showing
treasures of that time.
Antiques of china, linens,
quilts, glassware, pictures,
deer horns and many other
items were a part of the “show
and tell". Discussions were
most interesting and enjoyable.
Mrs. Earl Payne concluded
the program with the reading of
the poem "Trees” by Joyce
Kilmer.
Refreshments were served
from a beautiful tea table
presided over by hostesses Mrs.
Louis Ardis, Mrs. Dozier
Thornton and Miss Martha
Spencer.

Christmas luncheon will be
Dec. 12, at the Womans

Lee-Hi 4-H
Lee-Hi 4-H Club met Monday,
Nov. 17 at the Peoples National
Bank. Phil Golden, president,
called the meeting to order and
Donna Hines led the motto and
pledge. Secretary. Larry
Golden called roll and read the
minutes of the last meeting. The
treasurers report was given by
Stacey Bowen.
A committee of three were
selected to buy a going-away
gift for County Extension Agent
Jim Crawford to be presented to
him.
A Christmas party has been
scheduled for Monday, Dec. 1 in
the home of Donna Hines at 5:30
p.m. The theme for the weiner
roast will be “Imagine 4-H” and
each member is encouraged to
use their imagination for
dressing up. The group will
exchange gifts at the party.
Tentative plans for a
Valentine party were discussd
for February. Each person who
enters a dish in the food show
will bring it to the party.
Programs for future
meetings were planned.
Refreshments and program
times were assigned to each
member.
Refreshments of cookies and
soft drinks were served by
Janet Adams and Kim Delude.
Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Burrow, Cooper, announce the engagement
and approaching marriage of their daughter, Mary Jill, to Scott
Dawson Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan E. Brown of North
Redington Beach, Florida. The couple will be united in a semi-
formal cermony at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, at the First
Baptist Church of Cooper. Miss Burrow is a 1977 graduate of
Cooper High School and a 1980 graduate of East Texas
University. She is presently employed with the law firm of
Jenkens and Gilchrist in Dallas. Her fiance, a 1977 graduate of
Seminole High School, Seminole, Florida, is also a 1980 graduate
of East Texas State University. Mr. Brown is presently em-
ployed as an accountant with Texas Oil and Gas Company, also
in Dallas. Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to
attend the ceremony.

ADK Meeting
Alpha Delta Kappa Chapter
of Beta Sigma Phi held its
second meeting of the month
Wednesday evening at Terry’s
Furniture Store on the Square
in Sulphur Springs.
Members present were
Sandra McCasland, Ruan
Wagner, Nancy Hayes, Judy
Scott, Jan Massey, Star Zech,
Terry Gibson, Rozan Sellers
and guest Mary Jo Davis.
A program on painting was
presented by Ruan Wagner.
Star Zech presented several
paintings that she has done and
explained the different
techniques to achieve the
desired mood or depth of the
subject. Members then
discussed what different pic-
tures meant to them and why
they liked or disliked them.
Pledge rituals will be held at
the next meeting on Dec. 3.
The chapter voted to make a
donation to Project Christmas
Card.
Refreshments of finger
sandwiches, cheese pennies,
chips and dips, soft drinks and
coffee were served.
Secret sister gifts and cards
were exchanged.
Kothy Lynn Dickson Weds
The First United Methodist
Church in Commerce was the
setting for the Saturday
evening, Nov. 22 wedding of
Kathy Lynn Dickson and
Robert James Garrett.
The Rev. James Garrett,
pastor of University Park
United Methodist Church in
Dallas, officiated at the double
ring, candlelight ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. I,.G. Dickson of
Commerce and Mrs. Harry
Garrett of Dallas and the late
Mr. Garrett.
I,arge plants of woodwardia
fern formed the background for
the wedding with ornate candle
stands holding the votive
candles which profusely lighted
the entire altar area. A large
arrangement of silk flowers of
autumn shades in the bride’s
chosen colors centered the altar
which was flanked by the two
altar candles at each side on the
communion table. A memory
candle stood at the right of the
communion rail.
Mrs. James E. Richards, of
Arlington, furnished the
traditional organ selections
including “Andante Cantabile”
Symphony No.4 by Wiver,
“Larghett" Symphony No.2 by
Beethoven, "Jesu, Joy of Man’s
Desiring” and “My Heart Ever
Truthful" by Bach. Wagner
“Lohengrin” Wedding March
was the processional and
Mendelssohn's “Midsummer
Night’s Dream” was the
recessional march, and “One
Hand, One Heart” by Bern-
stein.
Miss Nancy Jo Humfeld sang
“Because” by Hardelot,
Malotte’s “The Lord’s Prayer,”
and Livingstone’s “The Twelfth
of Never.”
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a
heritage wedding gown,
“Priscilla,” of candlelight peau
de soie. The empire silhouette
accented the A-line skirt with a
full length fan shaped chapel
train. The bodice featured long
tapered sleeves with im-
provised cuffs outlining
diamond shaped seed pearls
and a high contoured neckline.
The gown was overlaid with re-
embroidered Alencon lace in a
flowerette and leaf design with
the diamond shaped seed pearl
accents which formed the fron
panel of the dress from the
bodice to the hemline. Her full
length mantilla, edged in
matching lace and sprinkled
with lace appliques and seed
pearls was held by a laced
covered caplette. She carried a
cascading arrangement of silk
flowers of roses, stephanotis,
and bridal wreathe with
streamers of earth tone colors.
Also, within her hand was a lace
covered Bible with love knots of
white ribbon to be used as a
book mark, a gift from her
parents.
Lea Anne Dickson, of Sulphur
Springs, served her sister as
matron of honor. The other
bridesmaids were Judy
Gammon Kretzinger, Lu Anne
Baker, Diana Lengel, Barbara
Brewer, and Tomi Jean Roan,
all of Dallas. Little Miss Kristi
Ann Ratliff, cousin of the bride,
from Oklahoma City, was the
flower girl.
The attendants wore chiffon
gowns of persimmon, apricot
and toffee with an overlay
covering the bodice and
shoulders. Extending from the
waistline was an overlay
flounce of eight inches with a
rolled tie for the waist. Baby’s
breath adorned the girls’ hair.
Each carried long stem silk
roses and assorted autumn
flowers with long streamers of
the selected colors. The flower
girl carried a white basket with
silk corsage attached.
Charlie Mayberry, of
Richland Hills in Fort Worth,
served Mr. Garrett as best
man. Groomsmen were Phil
Riley of Fort Worth; Courtenay
Thompson of Dallas; Ken Field
of Fort Worth; Bill Webb of
Matthew, North Carolina; and
Ted Case of Nevalto, California.
Ushers were Jim Shaver,
Fort Worth; Tim McClendon of
Hurst; Larry James, Dallas;
Brian O’Hara of Bedford; Greg
Ratliff of Oklahoma City; and
Brian Ratliff of Oklahoma City.
Directing the wedding party
and attending were the aunt and
uncle of the bride, Mr. and Mrs.
J.E. Ratliff of Oklahoma City.
Registering the guestd were
Mrs. Joe Hawkins and Mrs.
Ratliff.
A buffet supper was served in
the fellowship hall of the church
following the wedding
ceremony. Long tables covered
with cloths overlaid of white
consisted of the menu of
miniature meat balls with
butter and mushroom sauce,
drumetts, pineapple sausage
shish kebabs, salmon mousse
with melba rye toast, turkey
curry rice salad, sweet and sour
squash, assorted cheeses with
crackers, cherry tomatoes, nuts
and mints.
The bride’s table held the
four-tiered wedding cake
decorated with flowers, the top
tier was supported with four
columns and held the
traditional bride and groom
within an arch of silk flowers. A
cherub also was placed on the
third tier which supported the
top layer. Apricot punch was
served from a large silver
punch bowl.
The groom’s cake was a
double ring German chocolate
decorated with marzipan fruit.
Coffee was served from a silver
service.
Cindy and Diane Kibler
distributed miniature pictures
of the bride and rice bags to the
guest.
Houseparty members in-
cluded Susan Pettit, Kathleen
McLaren, Chris Sales, all of
Dallas, Paula Richardson and
Teresa Banks of Sherman.
Hostesses for the buffet and
greeting the guests were Mrs.
Lois Hineman, Mrs. Jessie
Short, Mrs. Dorothy Kennemer,
Mrs. Glynna Wilson, Mrs.
Linnie Atchley, and Mrs. James
Coffey.
Following a wedding trip to
San Antonio, the couple will be
at home at 9009 Bryson Dr. in
Dallas.
The bride is a graduate of
Commerce High School and
East Texas State university
where she was a member of
Sigma Tau Delta, honory
English Society, and Chi Omega
social sorority. She is listed in
Who’s Who in American
Colleges and University, 1975-
76. She is a member of the
faculty of Zavala Elementary
School in Grand Praire where
she teaches third grade.
Mr. Garrett is a graduate of
Hillcrest High School in Dallas
and Texas Christian University
at Fort Worth where he was a
member of Delta Tau Delta
fraternity. He is a member of
Big Brothers’ United Program,
a member of the Board of
Directors for TCU Alumni
Association (Dallas branch)
and a member of North Dallas
Chamber of Commerce. He
owns and operates Garrett
Portable Sign Company.

The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Elmore, of
Sulphur Bluff. The groom is the
son of Mrs. Jessmia Williams,-
of Sulphur Springs.
The bride wore a gown of her
own design. Formal princess
style of satin trimmed in
alencon lace with chapel length
train built in. Full sleeves
caught to a wide cuff of mat-
ching lace and satin. A lace
stand up collar accented the
bodice covered in matching
lace. The veil of bridal illusion
was full length caught to a bow
of satin with seed pearls and
sequins. Matching lace edged
the two tiered veil.
Gerldene Steward, of Cooper,
served as the attendant and she
wore a yellow floor length crepe
knit trimmed in white lace
designed and created by the
bride. Misses Sherry Elmore
and Sharron Lunceford served
as flower girls. Masters Allen
Elmore and Brandon Fleming
were the ring bearers.
John Huffman, of Sulphur
Springs, served as the best
man. Joe Elmore, of Sulphur
Bluff, was the usher.
Music for the ceremony was
provided by Angela Stewart and
Geldene Steward.
The reception followed in the
Trinity Baptist Church with
Mickie Lunceford and Linda
Huffman serving. The bride’s
table was covered in lace over a
yellow cloth and held the
traditional three tier wedding
cake made by the bride. Punch,
nuts, and mints were also
served from the crystal ap-
pointments to all the guests.
Donna Huffman presided at the
registry.
The bride attended Sulphur
Bluff High School and is em-
ployed at the Sulphur Springs
State Bank. The groom at-
tended Sulphur Springs High
School.
After a trip to Galveston and
Houston, the couple will live at
309 Helm La. Apt. 504 in Sulphur
Springs.

Alpha Tau lota
The Alpha Tau Iota chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi held its
Thanksgiving dinner Wed-
nesday, Nov. 19 at the First
National Bank community
room.
The tables were decorated
with autumn colored dried
flowers and silk arrangements.
Members and their families
enjoyed turkey and dressing,
ham, potato cassarole, baked
beans, macaroni and cheese,
corn, broccoli cassarole, rolls,
an assortment of congealed
salads, pies, cakes, cookies and
tea.
Those present were Joe and
Cathey Weaver, Salli Mc-
Clendon, Rick, Kay and Rickey
Orr, Margie McCaffery,
Charles and Sharon Helm, Biff
and Mickie Chapman, Julie

Mrs. Jack Brookins of Lone Oak announces the engagement and
approaching marriage of her daughter, Jackie, to Steve Cooper,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cooper of Tyler. The couple will be
united in marriage at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 at the Lone Oak
Baptist Church. Miss Brookins is a graduate of Lone Oak High
School and is presently attending East Texas State University
as a senior. Mr. Cooper is a graduate of Sulphur Springs High
School and is presently employed at Sand Pointe Homes in
Sulphur Springs. All relatives and friends are cordially invited
to attend.

The Alpha Delta Kappa, Beta
Nu chapter met in the home of
Chloe Spencer with Lillie
Plaxcoas co-hostess on Nov. 13.
President Nell Long presided
over the program.
The initiation of four new
members in the sorority took
place with Sherry Bassham,
Linda Palmer, Marjorie West
and Valeria Groves joining.
Two of the members reported
on the district meeting held in
Longview.
Several thank you cards from
different schools were read in
regard to the refreshments that
the members served during
Alpha Delta Kappa week.
Plans were made for a
Christmas party to be held in
Saltillo with gifts to be ex-
changed.
The club also voted to help the
Opportunity Center on Church
Street with gifts or money
sometime during the year.
