Wednesday, Jan. 9.
Mrs. Kay Taylor representing
the Mother’s Culture Club in-
troduced the program which
featured the stage band and
soloist Lydia Wallace led by
Rex Wilemon. The group’s
second number slowed the pace
as they presented the popular
tune “You Don’t Bring Me
Flowers” featuring Matt
Starkey on the trombone.
Forum members got little
rest though as the group kicked
the rhythm back up to full speed
with Donna Summer’s disco
song “Last Dance.” Lydia
Wallace, accompanied by Beth
Tuley, then performed Kenny
Roger’s new hit, “You
Decorated My Life.”
The program then shifted
b$ck in time to the “Big Band
Era” with Kelly Fletcher and
her trumpet starring in the tune
“Jacob Jones.” The band
wound up their program with an
oldie that brought giggles and
chuckles from several in the
audience with the old Buddy
Morrow tune, “Night Train,”
featuring Richie Anderson on
trumpet.
The forum business session
opened with the pledge and
invocation being given by Judy
Payne followed by a buffet
luncheon which featured roast
beef, broccoli with cheese
sauce, potatoes, an array of
salads, hot rolls, jello parfait
and tea and coffee.
Members of the Mother’s
Culture Club decorated the
dining tables with multi-colored
arrangments of spring flowers
and greenery. Misses Jill
Pearson and Lana Gammill
were guest forum members
representing Sulphur Springs
High School.
The forum will meet again
Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 12:30
with the Dial Study Club
presenting the program.
