bid awarded
The R.E. Enlow Construction
Company’s low bid of $83,989 for
a metal building to be erected
on the Como-Ptckton School
campus was accepted at a
special meeting of the board of
trustees.
The bids ran from Enlow’s
low figure to 894J62J6 posted
by Box Plumbing. There were
five bids. Others were from
Murphy Budding Supply, Paul
It Co. and Shenandoah Ent.
The contract calls for the
budding to be completed by
Aug. 15.
During the special meeting,
which was attended by Ronnie
Hux, Jack Bowen, Joe Pat
Jordan, Lester Arnold, Arthur
Skidmore and David Carr, it
also was voted to obtain bids for
a copy machine.
Bank lists
promotions
Rick Palmer, president of
First National Bank of Sulphur
Springs, has announced two
officers have been promoted
during a regular monthly board
meeting. The promotions were
effective May 1.
Mrs. Glenda Shelton, who has
served as the bank’s cashier
since November, was promoted
to vice president and cashier.
She was previously vice
president of First National
Bank in Athens.
Mrs. Rozan SeUers, who has
served as the bank’s ad-
ministrative secretary and also
secretary of the board of
directors since August, was
promoted to assistant cashier.
She also will retain her position
as secretary to the board. Prior
to joining the local bank, Mrs.
Sellers was secretary to the
president of the City National
Bank in Mineral Wells and also
had served as cashier at the
Southwest Bank in Mesquite.
First National Bank opened
for business in Sulphur Springs
Jan. 28, and currently posts
deposits of $4.5 million and
assests in excess of $6.5 million.
The bank has opened more than
1,200 accounts.
Palmer expressed his per
sonal pleasure and also that of
the board of directors in an-
nouncing these promotions.
“Glenda and Rozan are only
two examples of the talent and
dedication which make up our
bank’s staff,” Palmer said. ‘‘I
am very pleased with the
performance of our employees
and we are all very ap-
preciative of the solid support
and confidence which has been
shown in our bank by our
community.”
Winnsboro eyes
school bond vote
WINNSBORO - June 17 will
be a big day here as the fate of
$5.5million in bonds for the
construction of new school
facilities goes before voters.
Should the bonds be approved
by voters of the Winnsboro
School District, a new building
will be built for grades kin-
dergarten through fourth and
additions will be made to
Memorial School including a
new library.
Local man set
for GOP action
Sulphur Springs insurance
agent David Baucom will be
headed to Pittsburg May 31
as part of the District 1
delegate and alternate
selection committee in the
Ronald Reagan for
President effort.
Ernest Angelo Jr.,
president of the Texas for
Reagan Committee, notified
Baucom recently of his
appointment.
“Your willingness to
assume this important task
is appreciated,” Angelo said
in his letter to Baucom,
“subject only to final ap-
proval by the candidate, you
have complete responsibility
for selecting the Reagan
delegation from your
district.”
SLOANE TITTLE was born
at 2:45 pjn. Sunday, May 28, in
Franklin County Memorial
Hospital in Mount Vernon. The
baby, weighing seven pounds,
13 ounces, is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jerry Tittle, 1202 lemon
Drive, Sulphur Springs. He has
a sister, Holli, 12, and a brother,
Jeffery, 7. Grandparents are
Sheriff and Mrs. John (Jr.)
Tittle of Sulphur Springs and
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stanley of
Mount Vernon.
