Golden Anniversary
John and Ethel Inman will be honored with a reception in
celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 until
Sunday, March 20, at the First National Bank community room?
The event will be hosted by the honored couple's children, Mrs.
Johnnie Froneberger of Sulphur Springs, Lt. Col. Ret. J.W.
Inman of Carrolton, Ga., Mrs. Dollie Thornton of Bridgeport and
Joe Inman of San Antonio. Friends and relatives are invited to
attend.
Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Hazlewood of Bonham announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter,
Cynthia Jane, to Kenneth B. Horton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimpiie
B. Horton of Lannius. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hendricks and Mrs. Tulia Hazlewkod of
Sulphur Springs. The couple plan to be married at 7 p.m. EJiday,
April 22 in the Trinity Baptist Church jit Bonham. Friends and
relatives are invited to attend.
Club Honoree
Brandon Ridgeway, son of Don and Mari E. Ridgeway, is the
honorary Rotarian for March representing Sulphur Springs
High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society,
Spanish Club and Cat's Tale Staff. ^

Angie and Rick Phillips, an-
nounce the uniting of their
families with the marriage of
their parents, Diana Junes and
Richard (Dickie) Phillips. The
bride-to-be is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bailey of
Sulphur Springs. Phillips is the
grandson of the late Mrs.
Robbie Phillips of Sulphur
Springs. The couple plan to
make their home in Texas City.

Sandy Harman, daughter of Travis and Nancy Herman, is the
Woman's Forum honoree for March representing Sulphur
Springs High School. Miss Herman is a member of the National
Honor Society, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian
Athletes, Spedch A Drama Club, band and Flag Corp. She
participated in the UIL one-act play. Woman's Forum is
scheduled to meet at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March IS, in the
Woman's Building with the Treble Clef Club hosting.

Birthday Celebration
Mrs. W.F. (Arm belle) Carlisle will be Ignored with a reception
in celebration of her 80th birthday from I until 3 p.m. Saturday,
March lt, in Wesley United JAethodlit Church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Carlisle was born in Hopkins County on March24,18t3 and
lived in the area until a few years ago. She currently lives in '
Arlington. She has six children, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-
grandchildren. The children and grandchildren invited all
friends and relatives to attend. No gifts, fBease.
Forum Honoree
May Nuptials
The Rev. and Mrs. Paul Voorheis of Dallas, formerly of Sulphur
Springs, announce the engagement and approaching marriage
of their daughter, Crystal Voorheis, to Jarrell Delane Malone,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jarrell Malone of Brashear. The couple plan
to be married at 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the South Liberty
Baptist Church. Friends and relatives of the couple are invited

Forum Special Guest
Mary Theresa McHone will provide special entertainment at the
regularly scheduled meeting of Woman's Forum hosted by the
Treble Clef Club set for 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, at the
Woman's Building. Ms. McHone is a lyric soprano who has
'' performed a number of recitals in the East Texas area. Ms.
McHone is currently pursuing a Master's degree in vocal music
performance, where shel also holds the position of assistant
instructor of voice. In addition to her teaching duties at ETSU,
she serves as an applied voice teacher for Paris Junior College.
Rob Edwards will accompany Ms. McHone during the program.
Edwards is currently working on a music degree in piano
performance at ETSU.

Homemakers
Gafford Chapel Extension
Homemakers met March 8 at
1:30 p.m. in the home of Mary
Phillips with 11 members, four
visitors and three children
present.
The meeting was called to
order and followed by a
business meeting. Plans were
made for members to attend the
District V spring meeting
Wednesday, April 13, in Gilmer.
Janie Crump, county ex-
tension agent, presented a
program on food nutrition and
how to be a “super snacker.’’
She also presented tips oft “how
to shop wisely."
The next meeting is
scheduled for April 12 with
Mary Jo Thompson, county
extension agent, presenting the
program.
Alpha Tau lota
Marjorie McCaffery presided
over the Ritual of the Jewels
ceremony initiating Debbye
Leach and Lory Martin into the
Alpha Tau lota Chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi.
After the ceremony, a short
business meeting was held.
Hostesses Cindy Abercrombie
and Linda Blount- served
refreshments of spinach and
cheese puffs, chips, dip,
cocktail weiners in currant jelly
sauce, antipasto, soft diigks
and coffee.
Following the business
meeting and refreshments, the
chapter members played
Bingo. Each member brought
gifts that were “swapped”
among each other, Blackout
Bingo was played for the
doorprize which was won by
Lory Martin.

The Waverly Club met in
regular session on Friday, Feb.
23, at the Woman’s Club
Building with 26 members
present.
President Mrs. H.E. Enlow
called the meeting to order and
conducted a short business
meeting.
The nominating committee,
Mrs. Larry Booker, Mrs. John
Long and Mrs. Dan Bonner,
submitted the following slate of
officers for 1983-84: Mrs. H.E.
Enlow, president; Mrs. S.T.
Garrison, vice president; Mrs.
W.A. Carothers, second vice
president; Mrs. David
Alexander, recording
secretary; Mrs. Gomer Wilson,
corresponding secretary; Mrs.
Gilbert McGrede, treasurer;
Mrs. Jim Johnson, reporter;
Mrs. Henry McCorkle,
parliamentarian; Mrs. Ben
Wood, historian; and Mrs.
Bruce Cherry, chairperson of
the Woman’s Building.-
These officers were elected
unanimously.
Due to a conflict, the annual
spring picnic scheduled for
April 22 has been changed to
April 29. It was also announced
that the first meeting in April
would be held in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Payne.
Mrs. S.T. Garrison, program
leader, introduced guest
speaker, Ms. Juanita Wallace,
mortgage loan officer with
Peoples National Bank. Her
subject was “Our Town-
Banking.”
Ms. Wallace introduced her
program with humorous

presentations from John An-
derson’s Dallas Morning News
column on the subject of “Have
a Good Day.” She then delved
into the history of the banking
business, its growth in Sulphur
Springs and discussed some of
the newer regulations in-
troduced, such as Truth in
Lending and the Anti-
Discriminatorv regulations and
how that particular regulations
affect the female sex. Ms.
Wallace also explained the
different Time Savings Ac-
counts.
Following her program, a
question and answer session
followed. At the conclusion of
the meeting, punch and an
assorted tea breads were
served by hostesses Lona Long,
Sarah Massey and Virginia
Knox.

Ingagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Carol
N. Flanery, to Jerry Lyn Boles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby
Boles, also Of Sulphur Springs. The couple plan to be married at
4 p.m. Friday, March 18, in the home of the bridegroom's
parents.

Miss Karen Kay Holliday, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis E.
Holliday of Fort Worth, and Jonathan J. Cichocki MD of Fort
Worth were married at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, In the
Robert Carr Chapel on the TCU campus. The bride is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jewel L. Hodge of Sulphur
Springs. Honor attendants were Miss Terri Lynn Truly of Fort
Worth and Fred Cichocki of New Orleans, La. A reception
followed in Weatherly Hall. The couple will make their home in
Fort Worth after a wedding trip to Colorado.
50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Robert L Young of Dallas will be honored with a
reception from 2 untn 5 p.m. Safbrday, March 18, in the
Lakewood Country Club, Dallas. Hosting the event will be the
couple's son, Robert Wayne and Patricia Young of Houston. The
couple have thrfee grandchildren, Steven, Matthew and David
Young. The honored couple were married March 11,1833, in the
First Baptist Church in Dallas. Mr. Young, a native of Sulphur
Springs, graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1827.
