BIG SANDY—The Big Sandy Wildcats won a pair Bf
game over Spurger Friday night in District 40-A actioa. ^
Coach Mike Day’s Wildcats beat Spurger, 76-66. M^RafH*
Williams led the scoring with 27 points and Travis Haadfix
turned in 25. ( '
D. Moye was high pointer for Spurger with 26.
Coach Day was happy with the district win. “We’re play-
ing decent, but we still could improve,” he noted.
The Wildcats are 14-9 for the season and 4-1 in league
play. The ’Cats will play host to High Island Tuesday nighpat »
7:30 p.m.

The Lady Wildcats of Coach Mike Fountain checked in
with a 45 to 42 thriller over Spurger in a District 40-A game.
Janice Thompson, a 5-foot-8 junior, turned in a super night.
She scored 18 points. All points came via 6 3-pointers.
Terri Williams was runner-up with eight. She had i 3-
pointers.
Alicia Gilchrease, a 5-foot-7 junior, turned in seven points
and 9 rebounds.
Pegg Hatton led Spurger with 15.
The Wildcats are 21-3 overall and 5-0 in district play. Spur-
ger is 19-5 and 3-2 in league play.

HIGH ISLAND—Perhaps they should hang out a WEL-
COME HOME sign at Goodrich for Coach Lester King.
Coach King is back as boss of the Hornets. The players and
fans are happy.
The Hornets had very little trouble in beating the High Is-
land Cardinals, 91 to 25, in a District 40-A game.
It was really a fun night for the Hornets. Clifford Bookman
led the scoring with 20 points. He had 10 Held goals and was
0-of-5 in the free throw department.
Keith Wyatt scored 15. He had 5 2-pointers; 1 3-pointer
and was 2-of-3 at the free throw line.
Bertram Brown scored 13 and LaPatrick Bogany had 12.
Other scorers: Greg Bogany, 8; Derrick McGowen, 6; Perry
Brown, 6; and Kacey Johnson, 4.
The Hornets scored 38 2-pointers; 1 3-pointers and made
12 of 21 free throws.
How the Cardinals fared: Arthur Guidry, 8; Tommy Byrd,
• 9i Darren Moody, 2; Steve Salinas* 4; and Nathan Legar, 2. •
