Obituaries
Charles Edwin Wilson
TRINITY - Funeral ser-
vices for Charles Edwin
Wilson, 75, of Trinity, father
of U.S. Rep. Charles Wilson
of Lufkin, were held Satur-
day afternoon in the First
United Methodist Church of
Trinity with Rev. Wayne
Rhodes officiating. Burial
was in Cedar Grove
Cemetery in Trinity County.
Mr. Wilson died Thursday
afternoon in Trinity
Memorial Hospital following
an illness.
He was bom Nov. 29,1905
in Arkadelphia, Ark., but
moved to Texarkana with his
family at an early age. He
spent most of his life in
Texas. Mr. Wilson attended
public and business schools
in Texarkana.
At the age of 17, Mr.
Wilson was persuaded to
move to Trinity by the
Sanderson Family of Tex-
arkana. The family had pur-
chased the Rock Creek
Lumber Co., and Wilson
moved to East Texas to work
for the late Paul T. Sander-
son, manager and part
owner. The lumber company
later became Texas Long
Leaf Lumber Co.
Mr. Wilson later opened an
accounting office in Trinity
which has been operating for
over 30 years. He was one of
the first licensed accoun-
tants in Texas, having been
licensed with the first group
accepted by the state before
requirements for certified
public accountants were
adopted.
Last month, Mr. Wilson
was honored by the Texas
Senate as an outstanding
citizen for his many con-
tributions to society and for
making the state a better
place in which to live. A
Senate resolution, proposed
by State Senator Kent Caper-
ton of Bryan, said of Wilson:
“His wit, warmth, generosi-
ty and love of life have touch-
ed the hearts of all who know
him. They are fortunate to
have shared part of his hap-
py and productive life.”
He was married to the
former Wilmuth Nesbitt in
1929 in Trinity.
Mr. Wilson has been active
in the Trinity Lions Club, the
Trinity Chamber of Com-
merce and was a 50-year
member of the Joe Warner
Masonic Lodge No. 553 of
Trinity. He was a member of
the First United Methodist
Church of Trinity for 51
years and was a member of
the Official Board of the
church.
Survivors include his wife,
Wilmuth Wilson of Trinity;
one son. U.S. Rep. Charles
Wilson of Lufkin; a
daughter, Mrs. Sam
(Sharon) Allison of Waco;
and two grandchildren.
Waller Funeral Home was
in charge of funeral ar-
rangements.
Sheriff Lynn Evans
, GROVETON - Funeral
services for Trinity County
Sheriff Lynn Scott Evans, 58,
of Groveton will be held at
2:30 p.m. today in the First
Baptist Church of Groveton
with Dr. Leslie Mills of-
ficiating. Burial will be in
Sumpter Cemetery.
Sheriff Evans died during
the early morning hours Fri-
day in Lufkin Memorial
Hospital following an illness.
He was bom July 23, 1922
in Polk County but spent
most of his life in Trinity
County. In 1951, at the age of
28, he was elected as Trinity
County Sheriff for the first
time. At the time of his in-
itial election, he was one of
the youngest men elected as
sheriff in Texas and was the
youngest man ever elected
to that post in Trinity Coun-
ty.
Sheriff Evans remained as
the top law enforcement of-
ficer in the county until 1965
when he moved to the
Houston area. He returned to
the county in the early 1970s
and returned to the sheriff’s
post in August, 1972. He re-
mained as sheriff until his
death, having just been re-
elected to another term last
November.
At the time of his death,
Sheriff Evans left no unsolv-
ed murders or armed rob-
beries on the books of Trinity
County and his ability as a
criminal investigator was
widely respected throughout
the state.
Sheriff Evans was a
member of the Baptist
Church, was a Marine Corps
veteran of World War II and
was a member of the
Groveton Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife,
Peggy Evans of Groveton;
four sons, Joe Lynn Evans,
Mark Evans, Worth Evans
and Evan Evans, all of
Groveton; a daughter, Lyn-
da Byers of Lovelady; two
brothers, Joe Scott Evans
Jr. and Grimes Evans, both
of Groveton; and a sister,
Mrs. June Meadows of
Houston.

services for Lola May Hiser,
65, were held at 2 p.m. on
Friday, February 6 from the
Chapel of Pace Funeral
Home with the Rev. Frank
Hood officiating assisted by
the Rev. C. L. Moore.
Interment followed in the
Peebles Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie
Hiser, Tommy Hiser, Jerry
Hiser, Johnny Hiser, Bryan
Hiser and Clyde Graces.
Mrs. Hiser was born the
daughter of Luther Ervin
and Vera Sparks. A native of
Texas, she was born at
McAllister. She was reared
and schooled in Waco.
On July 30, 1930, she was
married to Herbert M. Hiser
in Missouri. She had made
Livingston her home since
1963. ,
She was a member of the
First Baptist Church of
Sugarland.
Survivors include one
daughter, Betty Jordan of
Livingston; three sons:
Donald Hiser of Pasadena,
Douglas Hiser of Alta Loma
and Ervin Hiser of Bay City;
thirteen grandchildren, nine
great grandchildren and a
host of other relatives and
friends.

LIVINGSTON- Funeral
services for Maureen
Monica Daniel, 44, were held
at 2 p.m. on Thursday,
February 5 from the Chapel
of Pace Funeral Home with
the Rev. O.E. Gower of-
ficiating assisted by the Rev.
Olen Trotman.
Interment followed in the
Peebles Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth
Kerns, Russell Tanner,
Charlie Morgan and Keith
Mayes.
Mrs. Daniel was born the
daughter of Fred -ind Rose
McCabe. A native of
England, she was born in
Liverpool. She was reared in
Liverpool and attended the
then available English
schools. The McCabe family
migrated to the United
States and on February 13,
1956, she was married to
Phillip Daniel at Duram,
Okl.
At the time of her death,
she and her family were liv-
ing in LaPorte.
She was a member of the
Deer Park Assembly of God
Church.
Survivors include her hus-
band, Phillip Daniel of
LaPorte; one daughter,
Katrina Michaelle Daniel of
LaPorte and grandparents,
Jesse P. Daniel of Liv-
ingston.

Ruby Noack ,
AUSTIN- Funeral ser-
vices for Ruby Eleen Noack,
72, were held at 3:30 p.m. on
Wednesday, February 4
from the Faith Lutheran
Church in Austin with the
Rev. George Fisher and
Rev. Dean Busboom of-
ficiating.
Interment will follow at 2
p.m. on Thursday, February
5 in the Nettles Cemetery in
Livingston.
Mrs. Noack was born on
May 4, 1908 in Livingston.
Her parents were the late
Malachi Theophilus Nettles
and Savalla Edwards Net-
tles.
She was a dorm mother at
the University of Texas. At
the time of her death, she
was a resident of Austin.
Survivors include four
sons, Norman Edwards
Noack of Annapolis, Ma.,
Carl Owen Noack of Austin,
John Milton of Houston and
Erich Jacques Noack of
Austin; one daughter: Eleen
Gross of Portland, Ore.; five
sisters: Ida Collum of Liv-
ingston, Savalla Broussard
of Prejean, Gertrude Brown
of Quinton, Va., Elizabeth
Cox of Sewell, N.J. and Ella
Ruth Ranbo of Sewell, N.J.
and nine grandchildren.

Gonzales-Funeral ser-
vices were held for Mrs. Ma-
jor P. Rochelle of Gonzales
at 2 p.m. Monday from the
United Methodist Church in
Gonzales, with burial in the
Masonic Cemetery. Seydler-
Hill Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
A resident of Gonzales for
the past 61 years, Mrs.
Rochelle was the former
Lelia Leggett. She was born
November 20, 1891, at her
family’s home near Leggett.
Her mother was Bessie Cor-
nelia Doughty who was bom
and reared in the community
of Leggett. Her father was
Jesse Harry Leggett of
Marlboro County, South
Carolina. Mrs. Rochelle was,
also the step-daughter of
Isaac Newton Snell a native
of St. Augustine, Florida.
She was the last of a family
consisting of four brothers
and four sisters.
Dr. and Mrs. Rochelle
were married on September
20. 1914. at the family
residence in Leggett. Before
coming to Gonzales in 1920,
she lived briefly in Corrigan
and Fort Worth.
Mrs. Rochelle was private-
ly educated along with her
brothers and sisters before
she attended the Polk County
Public Schools. She later at-
tended the old Moscow
Masonic Institute in
Moscow, Texas.
She was a long time
member of the First United
Methodist Church and of the
United Methodist Woman’s
Society. She was a member
of the Thomas Shelton
Chapter Daughters of the
American Revolution, and
she was a founding member
of the Guadalupe Valiev
Dental Auxiliary. J
Survivors are Her
daughter, Mrs. Alfred E.
Schaefer of Fort Worth and
her son, Major Paul
Rochelle, Jr., of Gonzales.
She was preceded in death
by an Infant son, Leggett
Rochelle.
