Notice of Filing of
Solid Waste Application
Polk County has filed Ap-
plication No. 1384 with the
Texas Department of Health
for a permit to operate a pro-
posed Type 1 municipal solid
waste disposal site to be
located on the north side of
F.M. Road 942, 3 miles west
of its Intersection with U.S.
Highway 59 at Leggett in
Polk County.
The application covers ap-
proximately 50 acres of land
and seeks a permit to
recieve solid wastes under
the regulatory jurisdiction of
the Texas Department of
Health for disposal or other-
wise processing in accor-
dance with the said Depart-
ment’s Municipal Solid
Waste Management Regula-
tions. A preliminary study of
the application will be made
by the Department and sup-
plementary material may be
required of the applicant.
Before the issuance or
denial of a permit, a public
hearing on the application
will be held pursuant to the
Texas Solid Waste Disposal
Act (Article 4477-7, Vernon’s
Texas Civil Statutes) and the
Administrative Procedure
and Texas Register Act
(Article 6252-13a, VTCS).
Notice of such hearing wUl
be published in a newspaper
of general circulation in the
area where the site is located
at least twenty (20) days
prior to the date of such
hearing.

PUBLIC HEARING
There will be a public
hearing regarding a Title
VII Bilingual Education
Grant at the Region VI
Education Service Center at
10:00 A.M. on May 27, 1980.
The application for the grant
is a cooperative arrange-
ment between Corrigan-
Camden I.S.D., Huntsville
I.S.D., Navasota I.S.D.,
Region VI Education Service
Center and Sam Houston
State University.
The purpose of the grant is
to establish programs of bil-
ingual education in the three
school districts and provide
training through the univer-
sity for bilingual certifica-
tion of teachers. Parental in-
volvement and training is
also a part of the application.
Information and copies of
the proposed grant are
available for public inspec-
tion prior to the hearing on
May 26.
The Region VI Education
Service Center is located at
3332 Montgomery Road in
Huntsville, Texas. All in-
terested citizens, parents,
and educators are invited to
attend and give their input.
