The nicest thing
happened in Livingston
Medical Rentals and Sales
may be the nicest thing that
has happened in Livingston,
and perhaps June Claitor is
the nicest thing that has hap-
pened to Medical Sales and
Rentals.
Medical Sales and Rentals is
located at 506 B N. Washington
in Livingston. They are a
literal life saver for many and
certainly a welcome con-
vince. Before this service
came to Livingston, people
had to drive to Beaumont,
Woodville, Lufkin, Huntsville
or Houston to rent or buy a
w heelchair, hospital bed or ox-
ygen tank.
Now people come from
those places to Medical Ren-
tals and Sales, for the fast
friendly service they get here,
and because of the many
avaliable items.
Besides the usual items
needed there are catalogues of
specialty items to make the in-
firm or handicapped more
comfortable. And in all price
ranges.
You could for example get a
cane for Grandpa for only $3
or you could order him a
special gold tipped one at very
special price.
There are walkers that are
less expensive than you think,
gxcercise equipment in-
cluding the excercycle,
motorized treadmill, blood
pressure machines and even
intermittent positive
breathing equipment and
maxi mist for asthmatic in-
dividuals. There is a special
catalogue of equipment for
paraplegics and amputurs.
John Thompson who once
handled a small amount of
medical equipment through
Livingston Drug, took Otto
Hawkins and Dr. John Cook as
partners and the three
gentlemen now own the
business. They are all busy
men, so they chose June
Claitor for manager and are
very glad they did. June and
husband David live at
Creekside where they
technically retired t in 1975
from Allied Chemicals and
from Selig Geologist, in
Houston. But David is very
helpful, keeping the , equip-
ment in good repair. June and
David have attended
Medicare Clinics to help them
keep up with changing regula-
tions. She gives book reviews,
they like fishing and garden-
ing. David is an elder and
June does the newsletter at
the Presbyterian Church.
The owners are very com-
plimentary to June for the fine
work she is doing. Not know-
ing anything about the
business before, she learned
quickly and has tried extra
hard to accomodate their
clients. The owners too are in
the business because they
want to be. They are commit-
ted to the creed “This is a ser-
vice business.” “Our specialty
is durable equipment, not ban-
dages nor drug equipment,”
they said. One of the wonder-
ful items you rent or sale is the
Gcri Chair. It is a comfortable
chair with footrest and tray
pictured above. There is also
the commode chair or raised
seat that fits easily over the
toilet and has its own wall
rack.
“We solicit medicare and
medicaid, insurance claims
and workmans comp. “We
counsel with the patient and
his doctor to see that they get
what is available", they said.
Very often durable, medical
equipment is available to
older people who have a
legitimate reason that they
may be unaware of, according
to the owners.
Since their grand opening,
Feb. 5, Medical Rentals and
■Sales have had lots of rentals
but they are having more and
more special orders.
Deliveries are made on the
large equipment such as beds.
They are opened from 8:30 -
5:00. In an emergency you can
call Dr. Cook, Otto Hawkins,
or John Thompson.
There is probably someone
you know, who would enjoy
life a little more if they could
be a little more comfortable or
a little more mobile. Why not
check it out? The rewards arc
great. Call 327-4616.
