never more arrogantly self-confident
as the daredevil “Duke,” and Russell
Hopton’s interpretation of the morose
veteran pilot is a fine piece of char-
acter acting. With his usual long
face, Slim Summerville lends his able
comedy touch and Gloria Stuart and
Lilian Bond provide two interesting
and entirely opposite types of fem-
inine charm. William Daly, Leslie
Fenton, Frank Albertson, Tom Car-
rigan and others round out the ex-
ceptional cast.
Photographically, “Air Mail” ip in
a class by itself ,and its locale has lent
itself to some scenic grandeur in ad
dition to the breath-taking flying
shots. Karl Freund’s camera technique
is very evident in this picture.
John Ford has proved himself again
to be a master of action drama. He
and Universal can well be proud of
"Air Mail.”
