Must Test Car
Lights Before
License Issued
The new law regulating the li-
censes of automobiles in the State
of Texas permits the owners of cars
to begin registering on December 1st,
instead of waiting until the first of
January, as heretofore, and licenses
•"-ly hr> procured from the Tax Col-
’-'ct r after the first of December
this year.
Another feature of the new law is
;n regard to the adjustment of light?
on all cars before licenses can be is-
~ued, and this requirement must be
fulfilled before the Collector can is-
sue the car license. Section 10 of
the new law, which regulates this
feature, is as follows:
“Section 16. Before any county
tax collector shall issue a certificate
of registration to the owner of a
motor vehicle or motorcycle as now
provided by law, he shall require c..t
presentation of a certificate show-
ing that headlights of such mo*or
vehicle or motorcycle have been test-
ed and adjusted at some one of tlu-
county test stations referred to, arid
that said test and adjustment have
been made within the thirty day pe-
riod just preceding the date of app1:-
cation lor registration.”

making rapid progress with the'*
work it looks as if it will require
another week before it will be ready
for occupancy.
The sides of the structure are
practically completed, and the roof
has been placed, but there is consid-
erable work to be done on the floor
yet, and none of the partitions have
been erected. The work of putting
in the doors and windows and other
tedious work will require consider-
able time and this can hardly be com-
pleted this week.
After the building is finished, it
will take some time to move the
equipment from the basement of th»
Baptist church, and from the High
School building, and this can be doae
better at the end of the week, and
will not interfere with the work of
the students.

Banquet Date
Has Not Been
Decided Yet
In answer to numerous inquiries
regarding the date of the big “crit-
icism” banquet, which is to be given
under the auspices of the Chamber
of Commerce, announcement is made
to the effect that although it has
been definitely decided to hold such
a banquet, the date has not yet be.'n
decided.
The committee in charge sent not-
ices to people from every communi-
ty in the county to meet and discuss
the project, and as the idea preserv-
ed many novel features, and is some-
thing unusual, ell who attended the
meeting wehe heartily in favor of the
banquet as it is thought it will be a
means of stimulating more co-opera,

communities all over the county.
A meeting of the committee will
be held again soon and the date will
be announced in this paper as soon
as it is arranged.
