MT. PLEASANT DAILY TIMES THURSDAY, MAY 2, 1929. The Jay-Buyer 0 0 0 0 You know the jay-walker—in fact you’ve probably burned your tires at one time or another in avoiding him. He crosses the street wherever and however he pleases. He takes intersections o na diagonal. He’s never content to follow the regular path. He thinks he’s saving: time. But is he? The lodging, jumping arid backing use up more time tha int would have tak- en to follow the regular path. And he’s taking a needless risk. Mr. Jay-walker has a brother—the jay-buyer. He al- ways knows a way to buy things cheaper. He knows of a man who sells radies dirt cheap—“makes them himself.” He hsa found a little unknown tire maker —“his tires cost about half what you pay for advertis- ed ones.” He’s found a way to “beat the price of gaso- line.” He thinks he’s saving money. But is he? Somehow or..other he just can’t make his income go as far as Tom, across the way. Yet Tom has the habit of reading advertisements and buying standard goods. /. * ■ ;■ ,i-- -i '-t .
