Price Daniel Says Labor
Trios For Convention Control
AUSTIN. Tex il'I’i Senator
Price Daniel charged today that
a minority faction headed by
labor organizers and labor law-
yers is trying to seize control
of next week's Democratic con-
vention in Fort Worth.
Hut Darnel, who won the re-
cent runoff race for the guber-
natorial nomination, said that
he doesn't think such an effort
will succeed His statement was
released by his Austin office
and followed by 24 hours an
announcement by Ralph Yar-
borough that lie plans to take in
the convention Tuesday
Daniel touched briefly on an
expected controversy over seat
mg of contesting Liberal and
Conservative delegations. He
said he would support the scat
mg of all legally constituted
delegations, regardless of their
political beliefs.
Tarrant Grand Jury
Calls For Ballot Boxes
The Tarrant County Grand Jury
today subpenaed ballot boxes
from nine other precincts in an
outgrowth of its investigation
of alleged voting irregularities
in tlu1 Negro box 120 at Lake
Como.
The boxes subpenaed today
were from both white and Negro
areas. However. District Attor-
ney Howard Fender refused to
designate them specifically Fon-
der indicated that 10th box also
may bo subpenaed.
The grand jury recessed last
Thursday to reconvene today
The spreading investigation of
the August 25th Democratic Pri-
mary runoff came as a surprise,
since Fender had said the grand
jury would he back on routine
matters today.
Last week Mis. Charlie Mac
Allen. Negro elcetion judge at
box 120. was charged with mak-
ing a false election canvass. It
was charged that the voting rolls
contained names of persons who
did not vote.
