More than 200 IOOF leaders In
the Encampment and Patriarch
Militant branches attended a state,-
wide meeting at the IOOF Temple
in Corsicana. The Royal Purple
Degree was conferred on candidates
from Corsicana Waco, Dallas and
Toxas City by a. selected team and
later the Patriarchs Militant (Can-
ton) degree was given.
A total of 222 was served at the
barbecue banquet at 7:30 p. m. in
the banquet hall.

Shivers Offers
To Reinstate
Salons Pay
Austin, Tex. (UP).—Governor Al-
lan Shivers has advised payless law-
makers that if they want to vote tun
immediate adjourtunentr—he will call
a special session to reinstate their
pay of $25 a day.
The special message to the leg-
islature, came this morning as law-
makers found themselves snarled In
multi million dollar problems of
taxation, with no immediate solu-
tion In sight.
The givemor expressed belief that
the work of the legislature "could
be, completed now within one week,
or certainly two."
However, he has recognized "that
many individual members may feel
tliat working without pay has im-

Tuesday when lawmakers hit the

Under a constitutional amend-
ment adopted last November by the
voters—legislative pay was hiked
from $10 a day to $25. However, all
pay stops at the end of 120 days and
$5 a day thereafter.

cine and the so-called "houaehold
contact" cases. But the report gave
new evidence of why the product
made by Cutter Labs was held back
for Inspection.
Another PH6 report said that In
the week ended last Saturday. 189
new cases of polio developed In the
nation. This is about 27 per cent
more than in the week preceding.
For the "disease year" that started
April 1—this year’s total la 72J
polio cases—compared with 718 last
year.
