Here is a closer look at the next round

The Brahmarettes, ranked No. 3 in
the state, will play No. 4-ranked Natalia
at 7 p.m. Friday in a one-game playoff
at Cedar Creek High School, 793 Union

The Brahmarettes advanced to the
regional finals after defeating Odem, 9-0,
in a single game playoff last Friday at
Victoria.
“It was another outstanding team
effort as the girls move one step closer
to state,” East Bernard Coach Christy
Uribe said.
East Bernard had a 2-0 lead after
three innings but took control of the
game three runs in the fifth and four
runs in the sixth.
BASEBALL

The Brahmas will face the Banquete
Bulldogs in a best-of-three series in San
Antonio.
The games will be played at Wolff Sta-
dium, 5757 U.S. 90 West, San Antonio,
TX 78227.
East Bernard will be the home team,
while Banquete will be the visiting team.

The Brahmas beat the Luling Eagles
to advances. The Brahmas battled hard
all weekend to win Game 1 and 2 and ad-
vance to the regional semifinals, Coach
Tony Cruz said.
East Bernard won Game 1 by one run,
5-4, and also took the second game by a
run, 9-8, in 10 innings.
“The Brahmas showed tremendous
character all weekend and came away
with two well earned wins,” Cruz said.
“A special thank you goes to the fans for
coming out in full spirit and cheering the
team on. I hope you didn’t chew off all
your fingernails.”
