East Bernard soccer program gets boost
Special to the Journal-Spectator
HUNGERFORD — The Boys & Girls Club
of Wharton and East Bernard Youth Soccer
have received more than $800 in money and
equipment from Strouhal Tire and Michelin
through the Michelin Soccer Program.
This community program partners Mi-
chelin tire dealers with local soccer organiza-
tions nationwide. The dealers purchase cus-
tomized soccer balls which are redeemed with
certificates sent to the soccer organization.
For every Michelin tire sold to the general
public at Strouhal Tire during the 30-day soc-
cer ball giveaway, $2 is donated back to the
soccer organization.
The donations are used to provide scholar-
ships, uniforms and other equipment for the
soccer leagues. Michelin emphasizes safety
on the road, and this translates to the soccer
field as well. The Michelin Soccer Program
promotes activity while facilitating a lifelong
partnership between the Michelin tire dealer
and the soccer organization.
“Whether you have done this program for
one year or more than 13, you’re going to have
a blast,” said Nancy Macha with Strouhal
Tire. “Kids love it, parents love it, and all of
us at the dealership really enjoy being able to
interact with the soccer community. There’s
nothing better than seeing the direct positive
impact it has on everyone involved.”
“Michelin is always looking for unique
ways to give back, and the perfect partner-
ship is between our dealers and community
soccer leagues,” said Jason Strand, Michelin
Marketing Manager. ‘We’ve had great suc-
cess with this program over the past 13 years
and we look forward to many more.”
