District Workshop Tops Discussion At
Meeting Of Presbyterian Women March II
CLIFTON - The Presbyterian
Woman mat for their monthly meet-
ing on March 11, in the home of Mr.
and Mrs Guy Main.
Jennie Gilliam presided over the
meeting. Members discussed plans to
attend a district workshop at Grace
Presbyterian Church in Temple in
April.
Historian Mildred Davis read two
chapters from the history she is com-
piling on the women's work and other
news items pertaining to the church
and current times for the year 1991.
The devotional, "A Plea For Part-
nership,” and fellowship of the least
coin was given by Mildred Main.
Valerie Goodall gave the Bible
study. The material dealt with hospi-
tality as recorded in the Book of Acts.
Refreshments were served to nine
members and two guests, the Rev.
Frank Horak and Daisy Hope.

Book Review
Set April 1
CLIFTON — On Monday, April 1,
the women of First United Methodist
Church will have their annual book
review. This year’s reviewer will be
Marjorie Currie, who has previously
given reviews here.
The book being reviewed will be The
Wandering Ghost by Jonathan Cott
It is about a Westerner who goes to
live in Japan
Dessert will be served at 6 p.m,,
with the review to begin at 7 o'clock.
Tickets are $4 each, with only 120
to be sold. Tickets may be purchased
at the church office, from Charlene
Parks at Holiday Travel, Johnye
Kleine at NCNB Texas, or by calling
Ila Turner at 676-3678.
A church spokesman said, “We ex-
tend a personal invitation to all of you
to get your tickets and come join us.
I am sure you will eryoy it."

CLIFTON - The Clifton Middle
School Chapter of the National Junior
aaaambly program.
A formal candlelight ceremony was
conducted with 22 new inductees from
the seventh and eighth grades receiv-
ing their membership pins.
The new members were accepted to
the Honor Society by attaining high
standards in scholarship, character,
leadership, citizenship, and service.
To be accepted, a member must first
achieve a scholastic average of 90 and
then be rated by the faculty of the
middle school as to their standards in
the other four areas.

Cassandra Reeder, Jennifer Smith,
Sara Stubbs, Donna Turner, James
West, Robyn Wilcox, and Jana
Zuehlke.
The program was presented by the
members of the Society: Kristie Bar-
nett, Wesley Godby, Gabe Hall, Jake
Miller, Justin Miller, Betsy Spitzer,
and Terri Williams. Also participat-
ing in the program were Mike Brown,
principal of Clifton Middle School, and
Sue Miller, advisor for the NJHS.
Special guest speaker for the
ceremony was Bruce Scaff, M.D. Dr.
Scaff spoke to the inductees and the
audience regarding the importance of
each of the five traits that are empha-
sized for NJHS members.« He
remarked that a person must strive
for high standards and goals in each
trait—character, citizenship, leader-k
ship, service, as well as scholarship—
for poor quality in any one area can
negate the qualities of the others.
