WASHINGTON, D C. - The Vete
rans Administration has slashed in-
terest rates on VA loans to 8 percent,
the lowest in 14 years, in an attempt
to give veterans a better chance to buy
homes, while at the same time
stimulating the economy.
The puts the VA-guaranteed in-
terest rates at two points below where
they were in 1990.
Veterans who already own homes
under VA loans may consider
refinancing at the new low rate.
The rate cut means that the typical
mortgage payment under a VA loan
will drop by $121 a month.
