Betty and Ovie Huse won the pret-
tiest yard of’97 sponsored by the Gap
Community Chamber of Commerce
and a nice one, it is. Rat at the corner
of Highway 22 and 2nd Street. Go by
and have a look. Visit with’em if you
got the time and the/ll tell you all
■bout them flowers they do grow so
«well. Good job, Betty and Ovie, it adds
a lot to how purty our town looks both
to homefolks and visitors just passin’
through.
Vail heard mention of the “pot pa-
rade” sponsored by the Garden Club?
Well, guess what. They had a tie fer
the purtiest pot in town and you’d
have a problem guessin’ who done
this. The tie was between the Larry
Kinney Real Estate Office and the
Marvin Payne Waco Cattle Express
Office.
j Go by and have a look and tell’em
thanks fer helpin’ make the town look
good. I don’t faiow ’bout Larry, but I’m
gonna bet that Marvin had some help
with his. Marvin Payne growin’ flow-
ers! Ok! While we talkin’ T>out purty
things; all you folks what take pride
in yore bidness and yore home and
yard and try to keep ’em lookin’ nice
is to be congratulated. It helps the Gap
keep the reputation of bein’ one of the
neatest and cleanest lookin’ towns in
this neck of the woods.
You should have yore ballots by
bow fer votin’ on the extended toll-
free calling to Meridian, Hamilton,
Hico, Iredell, and Stephenville. 1 feel
that your yes vote will be a definite
benefit for the majority of our citizens
in the 597 exchange. It’ll cost $3.50 a
month fer yore house and, as I under-
stand It, $7 fer the bidness. The toll
free calling will be both directions.
Send’em in by June 13. If you thinkin’
Tx>ut votin’ “no,” I’d hope you just
forgit to mail it in. Ok?
Please keep in yore thoughts and
prayers our friends and neighbors to
the south in Jerrell.Oo you realize that

CRANFILLS GAP - The home of
Ovie and Betty Huse has been desig-
nated as the “Prettiest Place in The
Gap” by the Cranfills Gap Chamber
of Commerce Yard Committee. The
Huses’ property is on the comer of
2nd Street and Highway 22.
“Congratulations to the Huses. All
their hard work has paid off. Their
yard is always picture-perfect,” said
Peg Head, committee spokesman.
According to the guidelines of the
yard committee, the Huses will not
be eligible to win the award for the
next three years, allowing others to
compete more freely. The next award
to be presented is the “Most Improved
Property in The Gap" award, to be
given in September.
“So, clean up your yard, tear down
that old shed, get rid of that old truck
that’s just been sitting there. Be cre-
ative — paint your house and plant
some flowers. See you in September,"
said Head.
Gap Park Improvements
