0ur mission at Livingston Main Street is to support the revitalization of downtown Livingston.
We will achieve this goal utilizing the Texas Main Street four-point approach of Organization,
Promotion, Design and Economic Restructuring through an organized community effort to:
• Encourage reinvestment and preservation of historic downtown Livingston
• Encourage economic vitality through business retention, recruitment, quality design and development
• Promote events and activities that instill community pride and attract visitors.
Livingston Hometown Christmas
Saturday - December 8,2007
Hometown Christmas is an all new event this year. The location has been moved next to Livingston City Hall
at the intersection of Jackson Street and Polk Street. This year’s event will start at I pm and finish up at 9 pm.
The lighted parade w ill take place at 6 pm.
Over 50 Arts, Crafts, and Gift Vendors
Handmade crafts. jewelry, ceramics, candles, soaps, art. clothing, blankets, quilts, toys, and gifts cH all types
will be available for purchase
Food Court
Located on Polk Street, the food court will feature some old favorites as well as some new
taste experiences that aren't readily available at any other time of the year
Jinglt- Hell Fun Run
The Jingle Bell fun Run w ill begin at I pm with a one mile walk for age 10 and under and a two mile course
and a 5K course lor the more serious runners. Entry forms are available at the Trade Days office (327-3656)
and at the Main Street office (327-1050).
Car Show
I here w ill he an exhibition of classic ears under the covered parking area of the First State Bank
Quilt Show
Ihe Livingston Piece Maker Quilt Guild will be displaying some of their finest works. They will also be dem-
onstrating how quilts arc made.

The Downtown Garage Sale on November 3rd was a success.
Over 30 vendors gathered under the covered parking area of
the First State Bank. The weather was perfect, the hot dogs
were great, attendance was good and everybody seemed to
have a good time. Look for another garage sale in the spring
. Thanks to the First State Bank for the use of their facilities.
The Tax Abatement Ordinance for the Main Street District
was passed unanimously by the Livingston City Council.
The tax abatement will apply only to the increase in appraised
value after remodeling or construction has been completed.
This abatement will be a great incentive for property owners
to get their buildings in shape to rent, sell, or lease and be-
come economically productive again.

The Polk C inly Chamber of Commerce and the Livingston Main Street Program are raffling off a new Chev-
rolet. I icki uS are $10 each or six for $50. Only 2000 tickets w ill be sold. The winner will be announced at
8:30 pm from the I tometown Christmas stage at City Hall. The winner doesn’t need to be present. Call the
Chamber (327-4929) or Main Street (327-1050) to purchase tickets between now and December 8. Tickets will
also be available at Hometow n Christmas.
Quilt Rafllc
The Polk County I leritage Society is raffling offa hand-made quilt. Tickets are $1 each or
6 for $5. The quilt to be raffled will be on display at the Christmas Train Village, 503 N. Washington. The win-
ner will be announced from the Hometown Christmas stage Saturday night.
Skar-Bros Hardware is moving to the Main Street District.
They are moving to the old Western Auto building at 109
East Church Street behind Downtown Treasures. Skar-Bros
will be open for business at their new location January 1,
2008. They are still open at their present site (and having a
moving sale). They will be a great addition to the Main Street
District.
Hourly Drawings
Register at the Main Street tent for prizes to be given away on the hour throughout the day. You must be pres-
ent to win.

Christmas Train V illage
A new. expanded train v i 11 age will be on display throughout the holiday season at 503 N. Washington (in the
Craw ford Building). Sponsored bv the Polk County Heritage Society and operated by engineer Dick Grant, this
model train display fills the entire building, it is truly a spectacular sight. Call the Main Street office (327-
1050) for a schedule of v ievv ing times
Free Petting Zoo and Pony Carousel
The kids can have an up-close experience with some exotic animals (and some not so exotic) and ride a pony.
This is free and available throughout the day.
Free Carriage and Wagon Rides
Ride through a historic Livingston neighborhood in a horse drawn carriage or wagon. These rides are free and
available throughout the day.
Free Refreshments
The City of I iv ingston will be serv ing refreshments in the City Hall parking lot from 4 pm until 8 pm.
Santa at City Hall
The Polk County Garden Club presents Santa at the city hall drive thru after the Lighted Parade. The kids can
get their picture taken w ith Santa and pick up some candy canes at the same time.
Propane Street Heaters
It it's chilly on December the 8th-don't fret. There w ill be propane patio heaters throughout the vendor area.
