Kudos to Lions for
outstanding season
To the Editor:
I just wanted to say a few words
to ('oath Randy Rowe and this
year's Livingston Lions fiKiihull
team. Hey guys, you had a
phenomenal year, a truly historic
ycar-thc type of year that hadn’t
been experienced in these parts
in a long time. Coach Rowe and
the team are winners in my book.
Honestly, I only caught the last
game against Dayton this year,
and of course it didn't turn out
the way i or any Lion fan w anted
hut I still felt proud of my home
town and school. I got to sec a
few old faces that I hadn't seen
since graduation day, 1988. I
saw a ghost from my past, Coach
Forehand and visited with him
for awhile. That night really
brought hack many memories. I
remember being out there just like
it was yesterday, even though it's
been 20 years (God 20 years). I
missed most of the season, but I
kept up with them through (he
Houston Chronicle and my BFF
Coach Brad Allison. To Coach
Rowe and the Mighty Livingston
Lions—wc are proud of you and
what you have accomplished this
year. To ail of you seniors, good
luck in all your future endeavors.
To Ihe juniors and sophomores,
listen to your parents, teachers,
and couches and see yu'll next
year in Austin. Happy holidays
and may God bless you.

POA leaders work to
build strong future
I want to thunk our president
Debbie Harlow and our board
members for all the hard work (hey
have done for our subdivision of
Indian Springs.
This past year has been spent
with hours of research speaking
with attorneys making sum every-
thing wus right before bringing it
to a vote on Dec. 8.
We have a meeting one a month.
The same 25 or 30 people show up.
’The meetings are to keep (property
owners) informed on what is hap-
pening. We need all the volunteers
ive cun gel to run an organization
such as our property owners' asso-
ciation.
It takes money the as it does for
you to run y our homes. It also lakes
volunteers.
When Debhic came in as presi-
dent there was no money and no
insurance oh (he building. She has
spent many hours sending letters
to property owriers out Of town
or State. Most Of them send their
$40. They can keep up with what
is happening on our web site. That
is such a small amount of money
per year. Wc also have, two fund
raisers a year in June and October.
Our Remember When luncheon
is a lot of work. I know as I have
worked in it for years. The money
we raise helps. We bought a new
tractor with things to help on the
roads. You know it didn't come
with a driver. ■ .',v^
Wc still have to depend on vol-
unteers to run it. We needevcrybne
doing their part. How many of you
that showed up at the town hall
meeting can say I know what is go-
ing on;. I pay my $40 per year, I
volunteer to help and will do any-
thing I cun do to go to the meet-;.
ings. ■ /:
Wc had over a hundred people
show up for the town hall meet-
have a leader step forward to make
things happen. Debbie did all of
that and more. We had two weeks
of handing out food and water. I
worked every day along with oth-
ers. She was there seeing (hat ev-
erything got done. You will never
know how many calls for help
vve got. Debbie's door has always
been open for anyone that wants to
know what is happening. She has
always been there to help anyone
that asks. Did you know a dozen
other subdivisions have asked her
for help with the same problems
we have? We am lucky to have
someone with the knowledge to
tackle the problems and is willing
to help other subdivisions. She is
holding meetings once a month to
help tern.
We do not want to end up like
Big Thicket Estates. Tommy Over-
street was at our meeting to let the
people know what happens to a
subdivision like Big Thicket. The
roads am taken over by the county
and brought up to par then the cost
is added up and divided between
each homeowner. They will be
presented with a hill. If they don't
pay. a lien will he pul against their
ing. Where have you been ajl this home,
