were donated to three of the county's volunteer fire departments. Sherry Schulze (left), representing
the eight participating churches, presented checks for $175 each to (from left) West Shore Rre Chief
Ernest Cheyne, Clifton Rre Chief Rudy Bean, and Meridian Rre Chief Byron Howard. A total of $525
was donatsd to the departments. The eight church teams involved in the league voted before the
season to donate proceeds to a worthy cause.

Emergency calls re-1
ceived by the Clifton
Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment during the recent period include:
• Monday. Sept. 2 - Time out: 11 a.m.
Report of a barbecue pit fire at 311 South
Avenue F, Earl Symank's residence. Fire-
fighters found a propane bottle was on fire.
Two trucks with six men responded. Time
in: 11:10 a.m.
• Wednesday, Sept. 4 - Tim out: 6:08
p.m. Water heater was reported on fire at
903 West 5th Street. Pedro Romero is the
tenant and Doyle Crews the property owner.
Three trucks with 13 men responded. Fire
out on arrival. Time in: 6:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Sept. 5 - Time out: 8:15
p.m. A report of smoke behind Erickson's
Feed Mill was called in on 9-1-1. Firefight-
ers found the smoke to be coming from Mrs
John Sadler's residence, where she was
burning grass in her yard. Two trucks with
five men responded. Time in: 8:30 p.m.
• Saturday. Sept. 7 - Time out: 6:45
p.m. 9-1-1 call of smoke coming from the
residence at 311 North Avenue T. The
owner, Randy Grimland, was cooking on an
outdoor barbecue pit. Two trucks with nine
men responded.
• Saturday, Sept. 14 — Time out: 9:30
a.m. Alarm at Clifton Care Center tripped
when a dryer in the laundry room began
smoking. Two trucks with two men re-
sponded. Tim in: 10 a.m.
• Saturday. Sept. 14 - Time out: 3:20
p.m. Reported grass fire on Farm Road 219
two miles east of town, on side o# road-
way. Two trucks with eight men responded.
Time in: 4 p.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 14 - Timeout: 8:15
p.m. O.C. Bronstad called 9-1-1 reporting
his smoke detector was going off at 303
North Avenue T. Firefighter arrived and
found that the battery in the smoke detec-
tor was weak and advised the Bronstads to
replace the battery. Two trucks with four
men responded. Time in: 8:30 p.m.

department members are selling raffle
ty tickets to raise money to restore a 1931-
model fire truck. Department members
will be at all home football games sell-
ing tickets.
