a candidate for alderman on the
Clifton City Council.
Evelyn Wright, 47, a housekeep
er who is currently residing at 307
Pecan Street, was the first to file
last week, according to City Secre-
tary M E (Betty) Barron.
The two-year terms of Aldermen
Jim Heid, Ron Turner, and Weldon
Davis expire this year.
In a conversation with The Clifton
Record, Alderman Heid said last
■week that he does not plan to run
for reelection.
Heid said he wanted to make this
announcement early in order to
pave the way for others who might
otherwise not sign up to run.
The alderman explained that
many of the programs he was in-

good shape, and now it is someone
else's turn to serve.

GOOD-BY OLD STADIUM? - The playing sur-
face of Cub Stadium, some of the bleachers, the
cinder track, and other accountermenta were
damaged during the December, 1M1 flood that
submerged the facility, washing debris (includ-
ing bits of broken glass) onto the premises.
Rather than reconstructing the stadium, which
might be in line for future flooding, school
trustees are considering relocating the stadium
near the high achool.
This aerial photo of Cub Stadium was taken af-
ter flood-waters had subsided. Careful inspection
reveals the washed-away track and warped
bleachers.
