bone out of the latest bucket of dirt that she and Jodie Sing (not in

dirt brought out of the grave for pos-
sible body parts, including teeth, bones,
and fingernails.
By noon, the area was clear, and the
rest of the parts were on their way by
DPS helicopter to Dr. Gill-King in
Denton.
Monday evening, after receiving
teeth discovered during the morning-
long excavation of the grave. Dr. Gill-
King made a positive identification of
the body of Emelita Reeves from her
dental records
Last October after Emelita’s disap-
pearance. pnd after questions were
raised by friends of hers, a full investi-
gation was started by the Arlington
Police Department
On Oct. 12, 1994, friend* of Emelita'
Reeves reported her missing. They told V
authorities they were concerned about
her. because Emelita had told them that
she was leaving Jack Reeves. Emelita
had told friends that she was afraid
that Jack was going to kill her, accord-
ing to Arlington Fblice Department re-
port^
Officers went to the Reeves’ residence
on Oct. 12, and receiving no answer to
a knock on the door, they looked around
the area, it was reported Spotting Jack
Reeves in the garage beside a freezer,
they asked if his wife was home He
told them she was not, and that they
had better get off his property since
they didn’t have a search warrant.
The following day, Oct. 13, officers
reportedly returned to the residence
with a search warrant, to search for
Emelita At that time they did not find
her.
Another search warrant was later is-
sued to look for clues as to her where-
abouts. It was during this search that
officers report uncovering jewelry that
Emelita wore every day, hidden in the
attic along with other personal belong-
ings
By then, unanswered questions were
emerging, and the Arlington Police
Department started an investigation
into Jack Reeves’ background.
It was found that in 1978, his sec-
ond wife, Sharon Reeves, had report-
edly committed suicide in July. She had
reportedly shot herself in the chest with
a shotgun held between her knees.
His third wife, Myong Reeves, report-
edly drowned in four- to six-feet of wa-
ter in Lake Whitney, in Hill County,
in 1986. At the time, officials ruled it
accidental, and her body was immedi-
ately cremated; at the request of Jack
Reeves.
The fact that his fourth wife, Emelita,
was now missing, raised enough ques-
tions that the Arlington Police Depart-
ment exhumed the body of Sharon
Reeves. They determined that due to
her body size and arm length, she could
not have committed suicide with the
(shotgun
On March 20, 1995. Jack Reeves was
arrested for the murder of Sharon
Reeves. His trial is set to start Jan
22. 1996, in Coryell County
Also, in March, in a search of Jack
Reeves' south Arlington home, police
said they found documentation that he
had been corresponding with other
women in the Philippines through a
mail-order bride service similar to the
one he' used to meet Emelita Reeves.
Police said they also found a plane
ticket reserving a flight to the Philip-
pines in June, for Jack Reeves and his
three-year-old son, Kendall.
According to a police affidavit,
Reeves had contacted a relative of
Emelita’s a few weeks after her disap-
pearance, and expressed his desire to
find a new Filipino woman to come live
With him who is “a direct relative of
Emelita’s*
All of Jack Reeves' wives were beau-
tiful, petite, and quiet, police say. And
each was trying to end the marriage
when she died or disappeared, relatives
and friends told police.
Police say that Amerylys Arnold, a
15-year-old high school student who
Reeves eloped with 35 years ago. is the
only one of four women to survive mar-
riage to Jack Reeves. The first mar-
riage was annulled seven months after
it bagan, by the girl's mother.
The day before Sharon Reeves died
in July 1978, she had been granted a
divorce, court records show Before
Myong Reeves drowned, she had been
planning to leave her husband, said
her sister, who showed police a letter
from Myong Reeves alleging physical
abuse and "peculiar sexual habits,"
according to a search warrant affida-
vit
According to a search warrant,
Emelita Jteeves told friends that her
huabarra abused her and forced her to
Oerform sexual acts while being photo-
graphed. and that she also wanted out.
Arlington Police Department person-
nel continue to investigate the deaths
of all three wives.
At press time, it was reported that a
hearing was set for the first of the week,
in Coryell County, to restrict the travel
and movement of Jack Reeves. Reeves
is at this time, free on bond with an
electronic monitor, pending his trial in
January. Coryell County District At-
torney Sandy Gately said that Reeves
is more likely to flee now that officials
have identified the remains of Emelita
Reeves.
