Barbers Hill poses big test for Lions

The Eagle have not lost a regu-
lar season game since the final
game of 1998.
The Eagles are breaking in a
new quarterback, Zach Clement, a
5-foot-l 1, 170-pound senior.
Clement was an All-District
comerback on defense last season.
He led the team with seven inter-
ceptions. He returned one punt 33
yards for a TD.
Clement saw a limited amount
of playing time at quarterback last
fall. He completed 2-of-9 passes
for 10 yards and carried the ball
seven times for 54 yards.
Running back Joey Franklin,
160-pound sophomore, has rushed
for 83 yards on 23 carries and scored
one TD.
Fullback Tim Stinson, 182-
pound senior, has rushed for 35
yards on 11 tries. 19-of-41 attempts for 211 yards and
Quarterback Elijah Moseley, a two TDs. He has punted IS
161-pound senior, has completed fora 32.6 yards average.

Coach Ifrice, a native of Neder-
land, is inliis fourth year as boss of
■the Eagles.
* The Eagles were 12-1 during the
*1999 season. Eagles defeated
JOrangefield, 21 to 3, in bi-district;
■defeated Corrigan-Camden, 27 to
(12, in Area; and lost to Waco Ro-
binson, 24 to 7, in Regional-Ill.
~ The Eagles of 2000 posted a 11-
,1 record and 5-0 in District 22-
AAA. Barbers Hill beat Orangefield
3n bi-district, 51 to 0, and lost to
^nighty Sweeny, 31 to 7, in Area.
All-District running back
Thurman Blake, a 5-foot-10, 190-
pound senior, was Barbers Hill’s
second leading rusher during the
2000 season. He had 742 yards on
124 carries and 12 TDs. He caught
9 passes for 90 yards and three
touchdowns. During the season he
scored 15 touchdowns for 90
points.
Through four games this fall,
Blake has carried the ball 66 times
for 526 yards (6.1 yards average)
and scored 9 touchdowns for 54
points.
Dwain Gilbert, a senior, has
kicked 14 extra points.
Through Friday night, Septem-
ber 21 Coach Price’s teams have
won 32 games and lost 7. Price be-
came head boss of the Eagles in the
summer of 1998.
Coach Price said the team’s
strong points this fall are:
1. Quickness.
2. Power.
3. Passing.
4. Depth.

Spartans, 33 to 14, on Friday
night, Sept. 21 at Stafford.
Carrington gained 164 yards on
22 carries for the game. He said hit-
ting the holes at full speed is the
key to scoring.
