Updated Visitor’s Guide Will Focus Tourism Attention On Clifton

CLIFTON — The newest ver-
sion of the Clifton Chamber of
Commerce s “Visitor’s Guide” is
out. and the attractive, full-color
brochure produced by Shavne Em-
bry of Graphice Artem Promit is
sure to focus tourism attention to-
ward Clifton as the brochure is
spread across the state.
The brochure reveals to those
not yet familiar with Clifton that it
is ”116X35’ Best Kept Secret." The
front cover is resplendent with a
field of bluebonnets, and full-color
photos of local events and attrac-
tions adorn the fold-out pamphlet
The glossy stock provides a perfect
backing for the crystal-clear photos
by Embry and Jim Crow.
Inside is a detailed map. listing
close to 100 businesses, attractions,
events, churches, and other points
of interest. The color-coded map
guide features categories for an-
tiques and collectibles, places to
shop, places to eat, places to visit,
places to rest, local realtors, area
churches, and other points of inter-

WOMACK - Womack Lodge
# 135 of the Sons of Hermann will
sponsor its annual spring barbe-
cue dinner on Saturday, April 29.
Serving begins at 6 p.m. at
Womack Hall.
The dinner menu will include
brisket, sausage, beans, potato
salad, coleslaw, homemade bread,
and homemade desserts, with
coffee and tea to drink.
Cost of the meal is $6 for adults
and $3 for children. Preschool
children will be admitted free.
Tickets will be sold at the door
only, and plates to-go will be avail-

CLIFTON - The aroma of
barbecue filled the air at Clifton
City Park as 50 cooking teams
entered the 10th annual Ameri
can Legion Barbecue Cook-off
on Friday and Saturday. Teams
came from all areas to compete
for monetary prizes and tro-
phies in the categories of beans,
chicken, pork ribs, and brisket.
Judging of the categories
were held in The Armory under
the direction of Dennis and
Janette Johnson Awards were
presented by Steve Sergeant at
the conclusion of the judging.
Top winners in each category
were awarded cash and tro
phies as follows; first place
$350, second place $250, third
place $150, fourth place $125,
fifth place $75, and sixth place
$50. Seventh through 10th-
place teams were awarded tro
phies.
