CLIFTON — At approximately 10
a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30,
Jacquelyn Dickey, 76, lost control of
her vehicle traveling southbound on
North Ave Q and left the road,
climbing a small embankment to
drive across a stretch of newly set
steel fence posts one-half block
from Highway 219 (5th Street).
Eyewitness Mike Schmidt,
owner of Mike Schmidt Chrysler,
who was traveling the opposite di
rection on Ave. Q, saw Dickey leave
the road and feeling that this was
someone who was in trouble,
turned around jn time to see h^r
accelerate, drive across" the'froht
yards at 102 and 110 North Ave. Q,
and drop into the drainage ditch on
Hwy. 219. Schmidt said Dickey’s
vehicle “hung there for a minute.”
“I thought that she would stop
there,” Schmidt said, “but she
seemed to get some traction and
went out of the ditch and across
219, and jumped the curb in front
of Jmyifrs Courtney House Bed
and Breakfast.”

Gloff Receives Attorney General’s
Award For Distinguished Service
Gloff Also Receives Victim's Of Crime Award
WASHINGTON, D C. - Gregory
S. Gloff was recently honored at the
Attorney ’eneral’s 48th annual
Awards Ceremony in Washington
D.C. Gloff was awarded the Attor
ney General’s Award for Distin-
guished Service, which is the
second highest award given by the
Attorney General and the United
States Department of Justice.
The awards ceremony took place
at Constitution Hall on July 28,
2000, and was presided over by
United States Attorney General
Janet Heno. Gloff was recognized
for his exemplary efforts in the in
vestigation and prosecution of an
international cartel in the vitamins
industry.
The case ranks as the most im
portant criminal antitrust investi-
gation conducted and as one of the
most successful white-collar crime
investigations in the Department's
history. The Attorney General
pointed out that “as a result of the

Public Urged To Attend Community
Homecoming Pep Rally Wednesday
— High School Rally Planned Friday Morn —
CLIFTON — The public is invited
and encouraged to attend the annual
community Homecoming pep rally
planned this Wednesday. The event
begins at 8 p.m. at Cub Stadium, and
admission is free.
“Come out and show the Cubs your
support and let your school spirit
loose,” said a school spokesman. The
rally will feature cheerleaders, skits,
lively music, and more
In addition, the high school pep
rally will be held Friday at 9.15 a.m.
in the high school gymnasium. The
public is also encouraged to attend
this event.

ham. potatoes au gratin. green
beans, fruit salad, rolls, homemade
pies. tea. and coffee
The price for the meal will be $6
for adults, and $3 for children. 10

This year, the Civic Society' will
receive a grant from the Libn Foun-
dation. who will match with double
dollars any proceeds up to $350.
The funds from this grant could
mean a possible total donation of
$700 to be used to purchase
