Hospital Duo Reviews Vascular Imaging
Radiology Technologists Marsha
Murray and Karen Napier recently
reviewed the latest advances in
medical imaging that permit a de-
tailed look at a patient’s vascular
system, the intricate “plumbing”
network of veins and arteries that
carries blood around the body.
“If we can see their arteries and
veins, we can tell if all their blood
flow is working,” said Murray, add-
ing that this is especially important
for patients with heart problems and
diabetes, where the blood flow
might be cut off or restricted to the
smaller arterial and venous systems.
“This is a technology that is im-
portant to all doctors, from
pediatricians to cardiologists.'' said
Napier.
Memorial Medical Center
Livingston has made a commitment
toofferthe best in medical imaging
technology to its physicians and
diagnosticians. From the basic X-
ray to the latest in ultrasound and
nuclear medicine, physicians m
Polk County can use the most
up-to-date methods to treat their
patients. A priority for the hospital
is assuring that its staff receives the
latest training in these technologies.
“We want our staff to be current
and competent in any technology
that will enable our doctors to best
help our patients,” said Jay Dickson,
lnwpii.il administrator. “If there’s a
training program or review course
that will meet that need, we want
our people there.”
Murray is a Livingston native
who has been with Memorial
Medical Center-Livingston for the
(last year and a half. She previously
worked for seven years in
Nacogdoches. Napier has been with
the Memorial system since 1998
and has worked in Livingston for
the past two years. She also lives in
Polk County.
