Estate Planning Seminars
Slated By Extension Service
COLLEGE STATION - “A property
drawn estate plan may save mam farm
and ranch families up to $200,000 m es-
tate taxes " This statement made by
Wayne A Hayenga. Texas Extension
aconomist and attorney, assumes a lot of
information a reamed cotfile who "tike
each other' and want to care fbr each
other, who have property worth $1 mi-
lion or more, and want to pass it on to
their children
This is an eyeopening fact for maqy
people In fact many people only worry
about estate planning if they hear of a
friend s problem in settling an estate
or paying estate taxes.
"BuL' Hayenga continued, "for many
families, the estate tax savings are not
as large In fact for many families, the
income tax savings of a property pre-
pared estate plan can be greater than the
estate tax savings ”
Five two-day seminars that will ufler
information about the complicated tax
topics will be held in March at the follow-
ing locations
• College Station March 34, Animal
Science Complex
• Amarillo. March 11-12, Ambassador
Hotel
• San Antonio. March 15-16. CPA Soci-
ety Thuong Center
• TVier March 22-23. Smith County
County Extension Center
The program is structured to help
people learn how to lower their tax bur
den and ease adniustraOve burdens that
affect passaig their estates on to loved
ones. In addition to discussing estate
planning systems, tax savings posstob-
oes will be discussed from corporations,
partnerships, and trusts when family
members are involved in the business
Making gifts to avoid estate taxes
and adverse income tax consequences
the pH can cause the recipient will also
be discussed Planning for inflation and
growth of a business as well as how to
be bur among all childrea when one
child is interested in the family busi
ness and others are not will also be ad-
dressed
