FSA changes
certification
LIVINGSTON - “Certification
as we have known it in the past has
changed forever,” said Lloyd P.
Ford, Farm Service Agency (FSA)
county executive director for
Polk/San Jacinto counties.
All acreage must be filed 15 cal-
endar days before the onset of har-
vest or grazing of the specific crop
acreage being reported.
“If you cattle stay on your "pas-
ture year round, you need to have
this acreage reported by Dec. 17 to
be considered timely filed,” Ford
said.
Any fall-seeded crop, other than
grazing, must be reported by May
1, 2002, or 15 days before the onset
of the harvest, whichever is earlier.
“Of course,” Ford added, “your
acreage may be reported any time,
but the above deadlines are the lat-
est they may be reported and be
considered timely filed.
“Remember, pasture and grazed
hay by Dec. 17, 2001."
Producers failing to certify unit'
acreage and production risk ineligi-
bility for NAP assistance or teduced
approved yields. This does include
hay production for 2002.
Producers with questions should
contact the local Farm Service
Agency office at (936) 327-8911.
