Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Lee Bookman Jr. of Goodrich announce
the engagement of their Daughter, Barbara Lynn Bookman, to
Edward Lee Brooks Jr. of Goodrich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed-
ward Lee Brooks Sr., also of Goodrich. The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Bookman Sr. of
Goodrich and of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vernon of El Campo. The
prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Ethel Cunn-
ingham and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Gronrett Sr. of Goodrich. The
couple plans a July wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Lee Cherry of Chester announce the
engagement of their son, Patrick Cherry, to Rhonda
Bourgeois, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elvie Tyler who
lived in Houston. The wedding will take place at 7 p.m. June 25
in Brnum Baptist Church with a reception afterward in the
Pine Groves Community Center. Relatives and friends are in-
vited to attend.
Huber-Torres wedding held
in Little Church of La Vilitta
The Little Church of La Vilitta in San
Antonio was the setting for the wedding
ceremony uniting in marriage Miss
Lynda Ann Huber, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Huber of Livingston, and
Rudolfo Torres, son of Mrs. Victoria
Cediolo of El Paso. The ceremony was
performed at 11 a.m. May 21 with the
Rev. David W. Edmonds officiating.
The bride is the granddaughter of
Frank Schievelbeis of Seguin and the
bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Vic-
toria Chavira of El Paso.
The church was decorated with ar-
rangements of spring flowers on the
altar in colors of lavendar, white and
yellow. Pews were marked with white
bows. The stained glass cathedral win-
dow behind the altar enhanced the set-
ting for the formal ceremony.
Prenuptial music was presented by
the organist who also accompanied
Mrs. Alice Fuller and Bruce Stoplier as
they sang “Just You and I."
The bride entered the church
escorted by her father. She wore a gown
of silk of silk organza and lace with a
Queen Anne neckline and short bell
sleeves. The low lace bodice and taffeta
skirt of knife pleats featured a chiffon
overskirt swept into a cathedral-length
train edged with rows of Victorian lace.
The bride wore a gold double heart pin
that belonged to her paternal grand-
mother.

The bridal fingertip veil of tulle was
edged with Victorian lace and fell from
a circle of fresh flowers worn in the
bride’s hair. The bridal bouquet was a

works will be shown.
Everyone should have
a hearing test at least
once a year if there is any
trouble at all hearing
clearly. Even people now
wearing a hearing aid or
those who have been
told nothing could be
done for them should
have a hearing test and
find out whether the
latest methods of hear-
ing correction can help
them hear better.

June 15, from 10 AM to 3

dress was of lavendar chiffon. She car-
ried a bouquet of the same spring
flowers as those in the bridal bouquet.
Serving as best man was Joseph
Chaparro of El Paso. Ushers were Mat-
thew Rzennicki and Ronald Fuller of
San Antonio.
Reception
The reception, given after the
ceremony, was in the Honey Hills party
room. Tables were laid with white
cloths with skirts to the floor. Ar-
rangements of spring flowers
highlighted the settings. The bride’s
cake was three-tier and decorated with
lavendar, white and yellow spun sugar
flowers. The cake was topped witfi wed-
ding bells and tulle. Mrs. Joan Trinble
served.
The houseparty included Mrs. Pam
Huber of Austin, Mrs. Joan Trimble
and Mrs. Susan Huber, both of San An-
tonio; Miss Diana Minor of Houston and
Miss Aurora Torres of New York.
Rice bags were distributed by nieces
and nephews of the bride, Chad Brown,
Chris Huber, Brian Huber, Jennifer
Huber and Gretchen Huber.-
Followng their honeymoon trip to
Florida the couple will reside in San An-
tonib.
Out-of-town guests were from El
Paso, New York, Sequin, Kerrville,
Willis, Kemah, Houston, Austin and
Livingston.
The marriage vows of
Miss Charlotte Ellen Gokey
and Clif Dean Warren, both
of Livingston, were read at 5
p.m. Saturday, June 4, in a
garden patio setting at the
home of Miss Ellen Coogler
of Livingston, aunt of the
bride.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Gokey. She is the grand-
daughter of Mrs. Alma
Cooglflf of Livingston and
the late Leo Coogler and of
Mrs. C. R. Gokey of
Goodrich.
The bridegroom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jere P. War-
ren of Livingston.
The Rev. John Humphrey
of Houston, Fairbanks
Branch of the Reorganized
Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints, officiated
the double ring ceremony.
The wedding was held in
Miss Coogler’s natural
garden setting, with an
abundance of plantings and
pot plants. The bridal party
entered the patio, transform-
ed into a nuptial setting,
through a white fence
decorated with pink flowers.
Pink flowers also were used
in the patio setting, with the
couple saying their vows
before a white lattice-work
trellis entwined with white
carnations, English Ivy and
white satin bows. White satin
bows and wedding bells fur-
ther enhanced the setting by
being placed on the railing
and steps onto the porch.
Similar satin ribbons and
bows were used to mark
seating for members of the
bride’s and bridegroom’s
families.
Wedding music was
presented by Miss I-aura
Cayton of Livingston who
played a medley of wedding
songs and the traditional
wedding march. Miss Joanie
Knott of Houston sang “An-
nie"s Song" and “The Wed-
ding Song.” Following their
exchange of wedding vows,
the new Mr. and Mrs. Cliff
Dean Warren bowed while
Mrs. John Humphrey of
Houston sang “The I-ord’s
Prayer.”
The bride was escorted
and given in marriage by her
father, Charles Gokey. She
wore an original gown of
white satin with tiers of im-
ported French lace over the
bouffant skirt. The fitted
bodice featured short puff
sleeves and a slightly scoop
neckline. The pearl-
encrusted headpiece held a
chapel-length wedding veil
of illusion. The bride carried
a bouquet of spring flowers
in mixed colors.
The two flower girls,
Crystal Peasgood of Houston
and Pricilla Long of Liv-
ingston, scattered pink rose
petals. They were attired in
long pink dresses.

The family of the late
George Oscar Rhoden and
Mary Viola Rhoden will
meet for their annual reu-
nion from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
June 25 at the Lake Liv-
ingston Recreation Area Ac-t
tivity Building.
Those who attend are ask-
ed to bring a lunch, to be
served at 1 p.m. Lawn chairs
also should be brought.
Relatives and friends are

The bride’s maid of honor
was Vicki Cantrell of Liv-
ingston, attired in a long
pink satin dress. The two
bridal attendants were Miss
Sherri Dee Burris of Silsbee,
cousin of the bride; and
Susan Freeman of Liv-
ingston. They wore identical
long pink satin dresses,
similar in design to that of
the maid of honor. Each at-
tendant carried a nosegay of
spring flowers.
Ernie Rowe of Livingston
was best man. Groomsmen
were Clinton Warren,
brother of the bridegroom,
and James Moree of Liv-
ingston. Each wore a grey,
western-cut suit The
bridegroom wore a white
western-cut suit.
Mrs. Charles (Sandra)
Gokey, mother of the bride,
wore an off-white, peasant-
style dress with a deep
neckline ruffle and gathered
skirt. Mrs. Jere (Donna)
Warren, mother of the
bridegroom, chose a salmon-
color dress.
Reception
Following the exchange of
vows, the couple was in-
troduced by the Rev. Mr.
Humphrey to the many
guests as Mr. and Mrs. War-
ren and invited the guests in-
to Miss Coogler’s home for a
reception, hosted by Mr. and
Mrs. Gokey. The bride’s
table, covered with an anti-
que lace cloth, featured the
three-tier wedding cake as
the centerpiece. Servers
were Mrs. Guy < Diane) Man-
ning, cousin of the bride, and
Miss Joanie Knott. The
bridegroom’s table was
highlighted with a chocolate
sheet cake, decorated with
dancing bride and
bridegroom figurines.
Servers were Kathy Cole and
Nancy Murphy. Both cakes
were created by Mrs. I.aura
Meece of Houston.
Guests were registered by
Miss Becky Measures. White
and pink rice bags were
distributed by Stephen
Forke of Lufkin.
The bride is a graduate of
MR. AND MRS. CLIFF DEAN WARREN
